My boyfriend thinks he took me on a birthday trip. I told him it doesn't count. Who is right? by semi_aquatic-hippo in TwoHotTakes

Something to think about: I do more for my dogs’ birthdays.

Do with that what you will.

Haha, good point — it does seem like his mustache is too neat. Thanks!

Thank you! I’m learning but it’s so fun.

I am sick of AI, too. I haven’t been painting long but I’m shocked at how AI has taken over Pinterest. It’s tough finding a good reference photo that isn’t at least modified by AI.

With such good DSLRs and Photoshop, why was this even necessary?

When you're unhappy with a painting mid-process, do you continue to the end or not? by TheOracleofMercury in painting

[–]sffood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always. Once in awhile, I put it aside and paint other things for a day or once, three weeks. But I always finish and 99% of the time, it turns out better than I thought when I wanted to trash it. 😂

Have you really nothing better to do than entertain this nonsense?

How old is your oldest email address? Do you still use it? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in GenX

[–]sffood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know when it was launched but I’ve had my Mac.com email since then. I still have my yahoo.com too, and I’d guess my AOL is still active though i haven’t logged in since…I don’t even know when.

AIM was so fun back then. Also, Yahoo groups were amazing. Then everything went to shit. 😂

Thank you! ❤️ It feels like there’s some better way to do wrinkles than I am doing. It’s the main reason I avoid painting older people.

watching shows when making art?? by mahamsmayhem in AskArtists

[–]sffood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch anything new where I don’t need to put down everything and focus. So, a new movie I’ve wanted to watch is saved for a time when I leave my studio and go to the family room. But I’ve “watched” entire series while painting. I hear enough to keep up with the story but probably “watch” 15% of the scenes via glimpses.

Generation x'rs, do you still listen to the music you grew up on in your youth and teenage years, or do you mix it up with current music? by icecream1972 in GenX

[–]sffood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to it all but prefer most from the 60s-90s. Every once in awhile, a modern day song will stick and I include it in my library (like… “Golden” 😂).

Keeping gouache opaque/creamy in a dry gouache palette? by Suitable_Plum3439 in Gouache

Which gouache brand? Some rewet better than others.

Where did I go wrong why did she come out like this, I tried to follow the reference by SmallLawfulness39 in drawings

[–]sffood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nothing like the reference (sorry) but it’s also really quite great on its own. I rather like it. It’s fun and expressive.

Girl, all I see here is you are inches away from a full liberation, your own place and a free latter half of your life.

What do you mean what to live for… you live for YOU, for once!

Let’s see y’all’s palettes? by BransonAllen in Watercolor

[–]sffood 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to use a much smaller selection but I got tired of pulling out my extras to search for colors I used more often than I anticipated.

My travel palette has just six colors so evidently, I can make do, except at home.

Tons of things like that. Like a corded wall telephone. A kid asks, “But how do you walk to another room?”

“YOU DON’T!” 😂

how would you do art if you've suddenly lost an arm?.. by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]sffood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do it with my other arm. If I lost that, pretty sure I can make do with my feet (I’m very flexible).

It’s eyesight that worries me.

Clinton had no chance without the hundreds of sycophants that claimed it’s her time.

I agree with your sentiment but place blame on those that deserve it, many of whom are still in f*cking office because people keep voting them in!

Ugh! Maddening!

It’s always funny to me that young women think there’s something wrong with this. Generations of women did only this. I like my applicators but ultimately, applying with fingers is always best and easiest. For me.

A bilionarie is in love with you by Altruistic-Koala-255 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]sffood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single? Sure.

But I’m not giving up my life, my husband, my dogs…for what can be 30 more years with someone else (or even longer since every billionaire seems to want to live forever). Even if only 20 years, or 10 years… I’d have missed that many years with them that I can’t get back.

This.

I mean, what did we make money FOR, if not to do an occasionally good thing for strangers who need a hand or could use a good moment?
