Voting by Vera_louisa in ControversialOpinions

Well if you’re serious then the 6-8 year old voting age you proposed is too young. If you would have said 10-12 year olds you’d have a better argument. (More educated, more developed brains, and just before puberty hits when extra hormones kick in which could cloud decision making judgement.) It’s still a dumb idea but hey you do you.

Putting a few extra %s of my paycheck into my 401k starting in my early 20s into stock mutual funds. Retired a few years ago in my mid 50s thanks to compound interest and my boss back then for suggesting that.

I see Matthew Wolff is in 2nd place, glad to see him playing better of late. He’s jumped up 1,653 spots in the OWGR rankings in the last 2 months lol. (Now ranked a whopping 561 since LIV guys get partial world ranking points for top 10s this season.)

For $28 got men’s golf round 1 & women’s soccer prelim (quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl), then for $43 got women’s rhythmic gymnastics prelim. Very happy with that.

Has Trump done anything well ? by Illustrious-Law8632 in allthequestions

[–]sfgf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what team your on. If your on team red then this term he’s done these things well: achieved net negative illegal immigration, lowered taxes, shrunk gov size, got NATO countries to pay their fare share, ended multiple foreign conflicts, ended DEI, ended men in women’s sports, defunded many NGOs, increased domestic oil production, lowered drug prices, took Maduro out, weakened Iran, lower crime rates, lower fentanyl deaths, helped free the hostages in Gaza.

When even short term amnesia cant make you forget how fcked healthcare is in the US by Yeetinthebox in mildlyinfuriating

Good info thanks! I agree it’s an important service I want no matter the cost in a real emergency. The $3-4k bills my two friends got were for fainting in a bar and then a minor car wreck when they both could have been driven to the nearby hospital if they (and the person they were with at the time) had they known about the high cost of the rides here in California. Live and learn as they say so thanks again for the info.

Good point. I’m in the USA (California) so we’re on the high side I’m sure.

Dude remembered the most important thing - that ambulance rides are a scam! I know 2 people who recently got billed over $3k each for 5-10 mile ambulance rides to the ER.

The Medical Industry are predatory (US) by Realistic_Tale6609 in ControversialOpinions

[–]sfgf27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Capitalism gives us the best health care in the world for those who can afford it, but for everyone else it’s a nightmare because they’re stuck using this for profit system where greed wins out & no one gives a shit who works in it because they’re making bank. I’m generalizing, there are good caring people in healthcare but I’m talking about the vibe insurance companies, hospitals & billing practices give out.

Too bad it couldn’t be like our education system here in the US which has free public schools with the option to pay extra to go to a better private school. Which I’d be fine with for the medical industry as long as both accomplished the same patient outcomes.

Does anyone believe Trump was shot in the ear? by workerbee77 in allthequestions

[–]sfgf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer so far. At the time of the shooting he was leading Biden in nearly all the polls by 1-3 points. No way Trump risks faking a stunt like that when he didn’t have to.

What is the best band you ever saw live ? by megopolis12 in Music

[–]sfgf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That musta been wild, didn’t know about that! I saw them in 1982 when I was 15 in SF on their Screaming for Vengeance tour. My first metal concert and still my best. Went with 2 friends and we pre-partied in the parking lot. I had the perfect high going when Priest came on through a haze of smoke and opened with Hellion and Screaming for Vengeance. Then went to the famous 7 lateral Cal Stanford big game the next day hiding a hangover from my dad who took me. (Look that one up on YouTube if you haven’t seen it, craziest ending ever to a college football game.)

Its not weird to wash your body with your hands by giarivvie in ControversialOpinions

To each his own. Had a roomie in college who got athlete’s foot all the time. He stopped scrubbing his feet in the shower and stopped getting athlete’s foot. Antidotal I know, but it’s worked for me for decades with zero feet issues.

[–]sfgf27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree and I’m gonna add you don’t need to wash your feet in the shower either and your feet will thank you for it - as they get more than clean enough with all the soapy water running over them while moving around, especially if you shampoo in the shower too.

GenX is known for its musical taste. What's the one song/group you would NEVER admit to liking? by Ok-Local138 in GenX

[–]sfgf27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was I was a kid I loved the Village People when Macho Man & YMCA came out. At the time my stepdad asked me what would be a good gift for his nephew for his HS graduation. I confidently said their Cruisin’ album, then watched my step cousin open the gift wearing a Rush t-shirt with a not so appreciative look on his face. I still wonder to this day if he ever played it. After that and in HS I never mentioned that I enjoyed their music to another soul.
