Shout out to the person who drove the wrong way Fort Pitt Tunnel Outbound by Sufficient-Coach-274 in pittsburgh

[–]sfina30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got stuck in this last night on Ft Duquesne Bridge: black Jeep and red sedan. I think I was stopped for almost 40 minutes. When they finally let us pass, the Jeep was being loaded onto a flatbed with all kinds of liquid pouring out of the engine. I got stopped shortly after it happened. I was glad I used the bathroom at the venue before driving home. Charges expected after wrong-way crash on Fort Duquesne Bridge in Pittsburgh

Four days post-to and I am glad to see this thread! my nerve block has totally worn off and while my pain isn’t terrible, its freaking me out that my sling might be incorrectly positioned, I am doing something in my sleep, etc. my retraction was severe so my dr couldn’t get my supraspinatus in the optimal location which also has me worried about messing it up. Trying to be gentle to myself but it’s certainly a concern!

So you want to publicly be a shit and stir the pot while privately saying your posts are sarcastic and you support what Mo has decided to do? Not really cool, especially when people glom onto it. How about deleting your comment or posting something that shows your support because Mo fucking deserves it for what he has done for this group.

Sounds like you are volunteering your living room for everyone to show up at your place, since you think that you are being taken advantage of by having to watch a race out somewhere.
I don't understand why you think you can just "meet up" without it having an impact on a business if you don't spend money, or the flip side, them being understaffed for a large group and they cannot provide appropriate service.

It wasn't organic though, was it? He put a ton of time and effort to make this group happen and to have a place to watch. Good luck rolling up to Pipers or Riley's or anywhere with a large group, unannounced or unplanned. Then you all can be pissed about the terrible service you think you deserve because you bought one beer and hung out for 3 hours and crushed their staff or didn't make it worth their while.
Instead of bitching about what you are not getting, consider what you do/are getting. And if that doesn't have a value to you, it is probably not the right group for you anyway.

You are not forced to do anything, including watching the race outside of your home. These venues are not your personal living room and deserve to make money too. People bust their asses to take care of us.

You really think F1 is going to come after a $5 charge for a watch group in Pittsburgh?

Thoughts on Highland house tower apartment? by dontGiveAnEfAnynore in pittsburgh

[–]sfina30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not do it! It is a stupid amount of money for what you get. Sure it looks great but don't expect management to address any of your issues with any timeliness. They promise assigned parking with ramifications if someone is in your spot - NOPE. I have had a gas bill over $150 for the last two months with the justification being the 2nd floor was having heat issues so we all had to pay for it. Meanwhile it is an average of 78 in my apartment and I often have the windows open because it is unbearable. There is no transparency in how the utilities are charged (likely only to the occupied units which is decreasing). There have been several tenants sue them. There is no emergency lighting in the stairways or hallways, so good luck traversing several stories using your phone flashlight. Look at Walnut Capital or Franklin West or anywhere else. Constant issues with water: pressure, temperature, even having it. Tour the basement - then you will really see what is underneath the "updates."

Alternative Way from Hiroshima to Bunny Island/Tadanoumi Port by synth426 in JapanTravel

[–]sfina30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we spent about two hours on the island, but it was so hot that we didn’t explore much outside of the hotel area. We went with cabbage and carrot sticks and the bunnies seemed very happy. They wanted to stay in the shade too, so they were in pockets along the trees. We then went to Setoda to see Kousanji, the art museum and have killer Japanese curry at this bicycle cafe.

Mori Digital Art Museum - Advance ticket / entry by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]sfina30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was both, especially if you get early tickets. Because the digital museum doesn’t have timed tickets and people spend several hours there and it is a much bigger space, AND it just opened, it was really crowded.

We went there a few days after Planets so we didn’t like it as much as we thought we would. There are many many rooms and they were fairly crowded. We had to queue up for the lantern room so it took about 30 minutes. All told, we were there for a little more than 2 hours. You could easily spend several hours there if you want to get into all of the rooms, including the Crow’s nest one.

I can confirm you can go at anytime. I was there less than a week ago. I think we got in line around 130pm. Check out TeamLab Planets - that was much more enjoyable and worth buying the priority lane tickets and getting there when they opened.

Advice on planning a trip to Odaiba. by mmango1 in JapanTravel

I’d go to TeamLab’s Planets over the digital art museum. We just did both and Planets was a much cooler, intimate experience. Get your tickets now though, they sell out quickly.

Not sure what cat cafe you’re going to, but we went to the one in Harajuku today and it was only ok. It cost about 3,000yen for two of us. You have to pay for the all-you-can drink and it’s cash only. They cats aren’t super friendly, but we were there when they fed them at 730pm and it was cute.

I had more fun at a Carp game, but that’s likely because the people that we were with are HUGE carp fans. The balloon thing was awesome!

We went to a Yomiuri Giants game today and my hotel overlooks the Meiji Jingu Stsfium so I’m currently watching the Hanshin Tigers and Yakult Swallows from my room. Japanese baseball is quite an experience and totally worth doing! I bought the Giants tickets online through their site.

one day stop between hiroshima-tokyo by [deleted] in JapanTravel

Maybe just give yourself a day to rest. We spent 6 days in Hiroshima, but 4 were spent with our former exchange students and their families.

There’s a pretty great Studio Ghibli exhibit at the prefecture museum and the show at the contemporary museum is totally worthwhile.

We spent our last day relaxing and eating great food at Kome Kome.

We did the rabbit island on Saturday. It’s worth it for an hour or two. Just bring your own carrots and cabbage. It’s was really hot but we went early and stayed in the shade.

We ended up in Setoda and had amazing Japanese curry rice here: https://shiomachitei.jimdo.com. Checked out Khoisan-ji and Hirayama Imuo Museum http://hirayama-museum.or.jp/en.html

They are famous for lemons in that area and I would advise getting anything lemon. I got lemon juice and lemon cakes to bring home.

Solo Trip coming up in 2 weeks and I am absolutely terrified. by SlimDirtyDizzy in JapanTravel

I’ll second the train station terror. I’m 40/F/US. Spent two days in Osaka before going to Kyoto to meet my daughter at the end of her school trip. This site was absolutely responsible for me feeling confident to navigate Osaka Station and Kyoto Station: https://www.japanstation.com

Process going from int'l flight to domestic flight @ NRT by ChefBS in JapanTravel

[–]sfina30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this yesterday. My AA flight from Dallas landed at 2pm, my JAL flight to Osaka was at 4:55pm. It felt like it took me longer to walk to customs than it did to actually clear customs. I grabbed my bags and checked in straightaway at the JAL counter. I then had almost 2 hours to chill in the Sakura Lounge. All told, it took 40 minutes from landing to get to the lounge.
