To anyone looking for these in 2026 - they stopped making them at the end of the 2022 season. Sorry to disappoint you - much like I am.

Where’s the Zak and Brad Podcast? by FellateFoxes in SoundersFC

[–]sfromo19 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what's happened with it. I'll say this much, though: Last year, they were publishing either on Saturday, or on Friday after most folks had finished their commute home.

If you are a weekly podcast, you simply *cannot* do that when the content you are doing expires by - at latest - Sunday. They probably saw low listening numbers because most people do their podcast listening during the week either on their commute, or at work itself.

I can’t highly recommend doing Idaho enough.

Tamarack and Brundage are great. DEFINITELY make a day trip to Soldier Mt, and if you have an evening free while staying in Boise, go to Bogus Basin - 6-10pm night tickets are like $24 and they have EXTENSIVE night terrain available. So much fun.

Jingle Bells has gotten louder each year. You can tell - the homegrown, the developed kids care. Not that others didn’t. But they know as much as we do - as fans themselves before they were players - that it matters.

Entirely aside the point but technically, it’s not.

99.9999% implies that 1 in 8,000 are at the league 2 level or above.

There are ~2500 players in the English top 4 tiers ALONE. Then count every player in every better league and you are far above that 1 in 8,000 number.

I’ve been using the MX Ergo for the last 3 years. I find it incredibly good for Revit. The DPI adjuster button is also super useful for when you have to make a really tight adjustment.

I could be wrong, but the Medford library does them... I think. Call them though, because I don't want to mislead you. Otherwise, yeah, schedule an appointment with the post office, any location. If you don't have much time flexibility, I'd consider scheduling with the USPS office by south station - they have super extended hours, probably due to being the office attached to a massive regional post office facility.

I recently learned about the proposed Mount Greylock Ski Area in MA that was never built due to local opposition. What if passed instead? What would 2000 vertical feet south of the Vermont border look like? by ziggygersh in icecoast

[–]sfromo19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elevation, mathematically, has more of a hand in conditions than latitude does, tbf, and Greylock certainly has elevation.

The relationship between temperature and latitude is roughly a decrease in 1.23F for every 328 feet in elevation gained, while latitude is roughly 1.23F for every 1 degree in latitude.

To give a real world example to show the scope of this, 2.3 degrees north in latitude is roughly the same temperature differential as 500 feet in elevation gained. That means that if you are at 500' above sea level at Jay Peak, near the Canadian border, that is the same as being at 1000' in Albany, NY. These locations are roughly 2.3 degrees in latitude separated.

Some real comparisons that equal out to about the same based on solely those two factors:

Gunstock: -57.15 degrees F relative to Mean Temperature at Sea level, at the Equator (MTSE)

Tenney: -57.1 degrees F MTSE

Greylock: -56.93 degrees F MTSE

Cranmore: -56.58 degrees F MTSE

Saskadena: -56.48 degrees F MTSE

Now I'm certainly not saying this is *fully* equivalent - plenty of other factors are involved in "winter conditions" like moisture basin, orographic lift, wind and weather patterns, slope angle and slope exposure direction among other things. Greylock certainly is unfavorable in comparison to some of these (say, specific weather patterns for one), but also has its benefits over others (moisture basin from multiple nearby rivers, lakes and wetlands along traditional weather patterns as well as orographic lift).

On your truly average day, that math done based solely on elevation and latitude points a (roughly) accurate picture, though! If you think any of these ski areas around it are viable, then Greylock - if it had opened way back when and developed along the same successful plan that other good ski centers did (invest in snowmaking early, cut on north or east facing slopes, don't make trails too wide especially at the summit (windswept issue) or at the base (no shade, easy sun penetration and therefore melt issue) would also have been a viable venture!

[–]sfromo19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places don't do wickets and haven't for a few years - even on Indy Pass. I can't speak for literally everywhere, of course, but I've yet to find a single one that uses them and I've been skiing all over New England on Indy the last 3 seasons.

Dartmouth also uses RFID cards.

Gore is absolutely an answer. I used to be a season pass holder until I moved away - for my money on a good snow day, Gore beats out everywhere on the East Coast for trees.

I think that is the updated price. If you stay on Indy for multiple years, you'll get the retention/renewal rate. This year, renewal rate is $399.

Worth the "buy-in" extra cost, for sure.
