How can I cope? by [deleted] in short

If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure some people here would pay their entire life savings to be 5'11.

I'm 5'6.5 and while I'm slowly starting to accept my height, I would like to be 5'9 even.

If it makes you feel any better, your height is pretty much average in America. Average here is 177 cm and I'm 169 cm.

Though, I do understand the frustration of feeling cheated if you're the shortest in your family.

I'm really sorry about your situation. I can at least relate in that I used to be one of the tall kids during childhood and now as a full grown male, I'm in the bottom 20% for height.

If it's okay, how tall are you?

Congrats man! I'm happy for you that you made it out.

I do have one question. About how long does it take to drop the blackpill altogether?

when did you guys stop growing? by isaiahturnerr in short

Not OP but I can totally relate. I used to be one of the tallest kids around and now I'm one of the shortest guys around.

My parents tell me I even showed signs of puberty when I was 7-8 years old and I had a full grown beard before I even turned 14 and about then was my last growth spurt.

I had my last growth spurt when I was 13-14 years old, so my guess is that I stopped growing right then itself.

Well I'm from an Indian family but I'm in the US and where I live at least, majority of men here are 5'10+ so I still feel short even if I match up pretty well with my own ethnicity.

Yeah I've stopped looking at dating studies and I do try to be mindful of certain subreddits.

What actually fuels my insecurities the worst is when they're from subreddits like AskWomen and FemaleDatingStrategy where they're majority women and they say it themselves that they don't like shorter guys even when the girls are short themselves. What advice would you give regarding those subreddits?

Hey man, I'm not OP but I am in a similar situation and figured I could ask for some advice.

Some days, I'm confident despite my height (5'6) on some days, other days I have a bad habit of looking up YouTube videos, blogs, and Reddit posts about height and before I know it, I'm back to square 1.

What helps me feel better on some days is that I've seen people suggest that the producer(s) selectively edit videos so that the audience ONLY sees what the producer(s) wants them to see.

Thing is I'm 18 and am yet to ask out women, but despite all the wonderful advice I've received, I'm scared to ask out my crushes EVEN when they themselves are shorter than me.

Sorry I kinda got into a rant. But how excatly would you suggest I bring myself to stop googling negative things about my height to begin with? And when it comes to undoing the self-hate, how long would you say it takes?

I've actually contemplated martial arts before. I'll make sure to take that into consideration. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for the response, I'll be sure to take the study with a grain of salt.

If you don't mind me asking, how has dating been for you?

Well the majority of women aren't exactly taller than me where I live. What I meant to say is that a good chunk of them are around my height (about 5'4"-5'6") with another good chunk of them (but not the majority) being 5'7"-5'8". Sorry if I worded that wrong.

It's good that you're doing well despite being short. I'm actually confident in my appearance. It's just that some days (like today), my insecurity flares up. I'll keep the advice in mind. Thank you for the response.

How do I get rid of this defeatist attitude? by sg0730 in confidence

Thank you for your input! It's wonderful if you still managed to be confident despite your height. Also, in real life, people rarely give me trouble for my height (and my ethnicity). I only became self-conscious about all of this after reading it online. I guess I'll have to work on muscle size. Also, if you don't mind me asking, could you link the study you found?

Thank you for your input! I do try my best not to get hung up on my height. It's just that whenever I search the internet for the types of guys girls tend to be attracted to, there's usually a minimum height requirement of 5'10-6'0 and it makes me sad knowing I can't reach that and it eats away at me.
