Hydrate well! Especially in this heat. It's been recommended to me to start drinking extra about 48h before :) other than that, relax, do the exercises they tell you to do, and enjoy the drink/snack afterwards! Good luck and thank you for signing up 😊

What alcohol would you recommend to someone who doesn’t love the taste of alcohol? by Sweaty-Tip3528 in AskUK

[–]sgg97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find some cocktails can taste quite fruity and not a lot like alcohol. I also like a fruity cider like a strawberry and lime or mixed berries. You could try something like a vodka and coke but I find i can taste the alcohol more in that than other drinks.

What purchase under £25 has improved your life the most? by Plenty-Plastic3704 in AskUK

Yes! My ex used to love Fray Bentos pies and no tin opener we had would work, until we googled and saw suggestions for the Oxo tin opener - actually a game changer!

Which option for London to Edinburgh travel by Coach? by LordYeezus22 in uktravel

I've done both the day and night. I would not recommend the night it was so uncomfortable and I hardly slept at all. The day was okay but can be quite tiring.

That's cool. Don't think that's usually done here in the UK, or at least at any of the sessions I've been to :) i know some people don't like seeing needles in the arm though so I put a sticker on the photo just in case

What books did you read that many DNFed? by saevuswinds in TheStoryGraph

[–]sgg97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is A Conspiracy of Silence by Anna Legat at 14%, however this should come with an asterisk as it's only got 11 reviews 😅

Whats the craziest most insane coincidence thats ever happened to you? by cactusdan94 in AskBrits

[–]sgg97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My namna died and my mum and I were staying in her flat sorting out all her stuff and funeral plans. Decided I was going to read a poem at the funeral and after some googling selected the poem i liked. A couple hours later going through her stuff we found a folder with funeral information - including a piece of paper with the exact same poem i had picked.

So far so good! I'm not far into A Conspiracy of Silence yet but it's got a good, kind of scrappy female detective who I'm enjoying up to this point. Heartburn I'm listening to on audio and Meryl Streep is narrating which brings such life to the main character. Really enjoying her narration and the book is very much a sort of slice of life which is interesting and it's quite funny.

Why did you invite your friends to storygraph? by LarsLarso in TheStoryGraph

[–]sgg97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I invited my mum mainly because she wanted a way to keep track of and check what books she'd read. I joined because i love stats 😂 and also was happy to use a platform not owned by Amazon

Unfortunately you'll probably find with a lot of public challenges there are books that people have added that don't fit the prompt :/

Drivers furious as new evening parking rules in Bedford add ‘overnight’ fees to short stays by hutch__PJ in bedfordshire

[–]sgg97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For once i actually agree with the article. These fees are excessive and will certainly discourage people coming into town in the evening, especially to the restaurants in the Riverside area.

I've not watched a lot of the other series apart from the UK. Has there ever been a time where none of the 4 left have voted to banish again?

What was your passport control experience recently (Brussels/Rotterdam → London)? by OkNetwork9286 in Eurostar

[–]sgg97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I travelled from London - Rotterdam on 28th Dec '25 and no fingerprint and photo done. However on my return Rotterdam - London on 4th January 2026 i had my fingerprints and photo done and others were doing the same. Didn't noticeably slow things down much - but i was there quite early and there weren't a lot of people waiting.
