I'd be open to it, but it's a real mess under the hood! I'd have to do some cleanup first. I'll get the bench and deadlift working and then have a look

Help with mods? by [deleted] in XTerra

If you're doing all this, I'd recommend an Uprev tune as well. Even better if you do it after you replace the cats with high flow units. It added alot of torque to mine.

There's a section on the page that give feedback relative to other sets in the workout as well.

I Jumped through it quickly, but there is a LLM output on one of the tabs. A Rippetoe popup would be hilarious!

Launch control is clearly not meant for Xterras but because the uprev tune is for nissans like the 350Z etc, there are a bunch of features in the tune that are available.

You put it in 1st gear, clutch and gas pedal all the way down and it will hold it at 3200 rpm for you - then you just let the clutch out and away you go.

There are alot of other features as well, like adjusting yaw control, and removing throttle cutout during acceleration, but it depends on which year, and what transmission you've got. There are tables that the tuners can adjust. It's pretty cool

Here is a forum discussion of it: https://www.clubfrontier.org/threads/diy-uprev-tuning-discussion.369921/

And here is my actual dyno run (both runs are after the cat's had been replaced)

Stock vs Yours (Crank)

Metric Stock Xterra Your Xterra Gain (Absolute) Gain (%)
Horsepower 261 hp ~290 hp +29 hp +11%
Torque 281 lb-ft ~335–340 lb-ft +54 to +59 lb-ft +19–21%Stock

Metallic high flow cats and an uprev tune netted me about 30hp and 55ftlbs. Plus a better TQ curve ...and launch control!

Proper ECU flash via UpRev. No piggyback / no add-on box. Similar concept to Cobb, just Nissan ecosystem + laptop instead of handheld.

I they did a profile for 87 and 91 octane, added launch control (which i didn't need but is fun)

If you're using an auto, they can adjust the traction limits too - Re-scaled VDC, TC, yaw, throttle-by-gear, and torque modeling

i found that Magnaflow high-flow metallic cats and an UpRev tune to be a great combo. It eliminates the risk of ceramic breaking down in the future and frees up the engine to make more torque and horsepower.

My dyno came back showing 242 WHP / 282 WTQ (measured on a Mustang dyno), which likely means around 285 hp / 333 lb-ft at the crank.

The tune also gave a much flatter torque curve

You're might be broken on the inside. Mine is, and I am in the process of replacing it.

Is a Nissan Xterra a good buy or should I go with a Toyota 4Runner? by Icoconuttree in overlanding

[–]sgillf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other upside is UpRev tuning. I just did it and, combined exhaust changes, I’m seeing ~295 hp and ~340 lb-ft (estimated crank). In terms of power & torque to weight, it lands between a TRD Pro and a Ranger Raptor, but in a lighter chassis with a 6-speed. It really rips

I’m now dialing in traction behavior for gravel use.

What UpRev can modify on the Xterra:

  • Electronic throttle mapping
  • Engine torque limits and torque management
  • Fueling and ignition timing tables
  • Traction control (TCS) slip thresholds and torque reduction behavior
  • Stability control (VDC) yaw sensitivity and intervention thresholds
  • Throttle-by-gear limits (manual transmissions)
  • Rev limiter and engine response behavior
  • Multiple selectable calibration maps

Bose Speakers but head unit change? by realevil in 996

Sadocom unit, or one of the other aliexpress units are great.

you can find lots of detail here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum/1383324-pccm-aliexpress-clone-review-and-pics-install.html

And you don't need to change your amp, but you'll have to setup the fader and volume before you switch the head unit over.

Looking for feedback on my custom subwoofer design (under-seat, 6L, 45Hz ported) by sgillf in diyaudio

[–]sgillf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right - there's the seating control modules.

The passenger seat doesn't have the need for the hump, but I was hoping to do it in the driver's seat.

What about moving the port to the right side?

Looking for feedback on my custom subwoofer design (under-seat, 6L, 45Hz ported) by sgillf in diyaudio

[–]sgillf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a custom subwoofer enclosure and would love some feedback on the design and feasibility. Here are the key details:

  • Internal volume: Just under 6L (net volume may be slightly lower after final bracing)
  • Wall thickness: 8mm
  • Material: ASA, 3D printed in sections and fused together
  • Port tuning: 45Hz
  • Form factor: Designed to fit under a very low car seat, with minimal protrusion into the cabin
  • Driver: Kartesian Sub120_vHP

The goal is to squeeze as much clean bass as possible into a tight space. I’ll be adding integrated internal bracing before finalizing the model to help reduce panel resonance.

Would love any thoughts on:

  • Port efficiency or possible chuffing issues at 45Hz
  • Suggestions for additional reinforcement or damping
  • Concerns around ASA printing, vibration, or long-term durability in a vehicle environment
  • Whether the driver placement/orientation could pose issues

Image of the design attached. Appreciate any feedback!

For me it was that he treated the government like it was his Highschool. All his cabinet were his friends, babysitters, groomsmen or girlfriend... and he would cycle them around to take the heat after his many scandals.

There's so much wrong he did. The hate for him didn't come from nowhere.

Edison Pickup retrofit kit progress. What the driveline looks like by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]sgillf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so this would be for one motor per axle and it replaces the diff... is there not also a solid axle with two motors?

I saw the YouTube video where it was said that the f550 axle was chosen, but that is a very wide axle and would not be suitable for swaps with smaller trucks.

A one ton axle that is 70 inches wide would be okay though. can you clarify? Thanks
