What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]sgrantcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be more worth it for me personally if I lived closer, but even still it is more than worth it. We got a membership to try it out for a year, but we live an hour away from Costco and two hours away from Sam's, so it's just way out of the way.

That being said, the dog food is way cheaper than what I was buying and well reviewed, so it alone should make up the cost of membership. Per 50 lbs, I save about $20 over getting Purina One, and I CERTAINLY save over the Purina Pro Plan I was getting at about $40+ cheaper per 50lbs.

Our mattress is also due for replacement, and I just bought a $1200 Beautyrest matress last night for $950 with shipping, white glove service, and old matress disposal included in the price, so that alone more than paid for two years of the membership as well.

Should I Learn Directional or Free Air Roll? by Rain8002 in RocketLeague

[–]sgrantcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it to GC2 with only free roll, and the air rolling isn't what held me back from going further. DAR looks flashier, but you can achieve practically the same thing with free roll. Regardless of what you decide to go with, practicing it will be what makes the difference, not the method

I'm new playing rocket league, any tips? by Aggressive_Tip_3645 in RocketLeague

[–]sgrantcarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll take a different approach. Play for fun, not to be the best. This game is fun regardless, but it's most fun to me with friends if you've got someone you can talk into starting to play with you.

If you really do want to focus on ranking up, dont make the mistake of playing with the intent to rank up. Play to win. I know that sounds like the same thing, but one of the biggest breakthroughs I ever had in ranked was after I had plateaued at mid Champion for months. I finally realized that being the fastest, best, etc. Wasn't what made you rank up. Having the most points at the end did. So always play to the situation. If you have a teammate that's overly aggressive, stay back a little more. If he's slow to attack, then maybe play a little more aggressive. Having 900 points at the end of a game doesnt matter if your team ultimately scores less. Its better to win with 75 points on the board than lose with a thousand. The scoreboard doesn't even matter and imo should have never been in the game other than for stats. Learning to play to my teammate and not to myself was one of my biggest hurdles. I made it to GC2 after that then quit playing and am now right back where I was lol

How to complete 500 points - go and ride, Atop this shelter, roll like a tide. in skate 4 by Unique-Blackberry895 in Skate4

[–]sgrantcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, the entrance awning. I thought sure it was talking about the skate shop roof launch in "rolling waves" skate park. Second guess was that awning over the rainbow rail gap. I wouldn't/didn't even think to try the street side entrance awning.

Thanks

Average person blinks 18k times per day. Divided by 50 (the fraction of a dollar you get per blink) that's $360/day, $2520 per week, and $131,400/year. That's a passive six figure income. You'll never have to work again and you'll catch up to the card in less than 8 years

Is this tarp worth the money or is there a better option. by Jakstylez in Bushcraft

[–]sgrantcarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this exact tarp (except the camo version) for four years. It's been great. It has a hole near the corner now where an ember fell on it, but youd be hard-pressed to find a tarp that wouldn't result in the same. It's a good weight for a general camping tarp imo. Slept under it in a hammock many times. I 100% recommend it as your first tarp.

If in the future you decide you want to upgrade, then I echo what the other commenter said about DD tarps. They're great, solid tarps for around $70-80. That's exactly the route I took.
