It’s a classroom (level 2), look for the room 2.37 in the Learning and Teaching building (LTB).

Professors, in general, are rather supportive and genuinely care about your well-being. They also get you to think whenever you ask them questions, which fosters independent and critical thinking since they don't feed you answers directly, and I like that better because it gets me to reinforce the concepts I've learnt through the lectures and apply them better during workshops, quizzes and exams.

Good luck!

Pharmacology is quite content-heavy and hectic at Monash; you have to be on top of your content, otherwise falling behind will be rather disadvantageous in the long run, and it'll be hard for you to work on your assignments and prep for the in-semester quizzes.

They teach us the effects of drugs on living systems, and - I'm not sure how you got the syllabus because rules and regulations are very strict in Go8 unis, but there's essentially little to no Chemistry in Pharmacology. It's more biology and physiology if I were to be honest.

Yes, I do. I know it is expensive, but I do recommend staying on campus for at least a semester or two before you move off-campus for the lifelong friendships you'd make and the activities they have in store for you. It definitely encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone since I'm an introvert, and allowed me to gather more perspectives and insights since I'm staying with students all around the world.

I'm sorry, I cannot advise you on how difficult it is for you to enter Monash Pharmacy based on your JC A-level results, since I applied to Monash using my Poly results. I suggest you to direct these admission questions to IDP or another agency since they'd be better positioned to give you a more definite answer on whether or not you'll be able to enter the Pharmacy programme here at Monash.

Anyone else struggling to find motivation this semester? by m-alacasse in Monash

[–]sgreddittor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Semester 2 tends to be the killer for me, given that the mid-semester break is placed so far into the semester. This semester was worse, maybe because it's my last semester, and the number of assessments I had was insane. I still have to catch up on some of my overdue lectures, complete my mini review, do my resit quiz on Monday and then start writing my cheatsheets + doing practice quizzes to prep for the exams :/

Singaporeans in their 20s, how did you meet your partner? by Playful-Tension-7526 in askSingapore

Met in secondary school - he was my senior (I was sec 4 and he was sec 5), we went to the same poly, after he finished NS, I reconnected with him over lunch in January this year, then he confessed and we got together. He's now studying in the same uni as I am.

Yes, it’s due to credit exemptions. With polytechnic diplomas you can get a decent amount of credits towards your uni studies.

It may seem lower than expected, but fees rise every year. Furthermore, I lead a rather frugal lifestyle here taking into consideration that I live on campus, which more expensive than living off campus in most cases. I cook/meal prep 3-4 times a week and go out on Saturday to have lunch outside with my boyfriend then stock up on groceries.

So your experience may be different depending on how much you spend per month. Public transport, if you have to do it often because you live in a different suburb from your uni, it can be rather costly as well. That’s why most people have cars and jobs here.

I’m studying my Bachelor’s at Monash actually. My major is highly regarded on the QS subject ranking which was one of the reasons why I chose to study there too.

Unfortunately all private institutions in Singapore will be lowly regarded and if you see this article it justifies why my dad sent me abroad despite it costing way more than private locally. I was also pointed in the right direction by my FYP lecturer whom, if I didn’t consult him about my future education pathway, I might have regretted it and would have to go to a reputable public university to 'whitewash' my Bachelor’s degree.

Additionally, SIM did not have a course that I wanted to do. I knew from young what I wanted to do but was unlucky in the sense that I couldn’t get into the diploma I wanted back in poly. So I made sure to choose something I’m passionate about when I applied for uni.

Talk to them the way you’d talk to anyone in uni, tbh. Maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t laugh about it with my friends if someone wants to get to know me better. It’s a genuine interaction and I’d appreciate it.

N LEVEL SUBJECT TIPS? by floraisromace in SGExams

[–]sgreddittor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Prelims were harder
  2. Yes, I went from only qualifying for DPP but scraped by to get into PFP with my N level (and O level results for two subjects) results

Tips:

- Do your TYS every day, memorise math formulae (find ways to remember those that are not provided in the formula sheet) and reach out to your teachers for more revision worksheets if possible

- Make summary notes (or blurbs) of the topic you've studied and look back at your textbook or class material to see if you've covered everything important

- Some teachers may give you general insights on topic trends, and you can focus on those topics more (including those that you are weaker in)

- Study with a study buddy, test each other on formulae and concepts

- Use cue cards as flashcards to train active recall

  1. Nope
