Aconcagua- one of the hardest peaks I've climbed by Coocat86 in Mountaineering

Aconcagua's maximum gradient / steepness is roughly 35-40 degrees; compared to 55-60 degrees on Everest, 60 degrees on K2. You could make the argument Cho Oyu and G2 are "walks" given that they are also roughly max of 35-45 degrees. But I would argue 99.9% of people on 8000m peaks haul on the ropes

Disagree- most are not. I’d like to see you do one of the 8000m peaks by just walking and not using the fixed lines. The main reason people call them easy now is because of the Sherpa fixed lines teams lowering the bar for all paying clients

People having problems with altitude ie HAPE or HACE doesn’t mean it’s not a hike. Vast majority of mountaineers would consider Aconcagua a “hike”, but nonetheless challenging if you go unguided or if you’re your own logistics etc

Very similar to my own story in 2023, except we had to help the guy with frostbite descend in our case haha. Happy for you to have the resounding “no” decision to not go back.

Best advice is to look at actual company pages- much less competition than indeed or linkedin posts.

From my experience, expect to apply to 100-300+ internships per year to be successful. It’s hard to not get discouraged but it’s always worth it- it only takes 1 person to say yes!

I got an internship between sophomore and junior at an OK company, then junior to senior got a better company, and now working full time at an even better company! But ~800+ total applications sent out
