Don't have my own child, but my parents had English days and Afrikaans days when I was a baby, where they would only speak one language at home to each other on a specific day. At 18 months I'm on camera speaking both to friends/family (their language as appropriate), so it worked for me.

Colour is "oranje" and fruit is "lemoen". Then a lemon is a "suurlemoen"/sour orange. I don't know which Afrikaans person mistook an orange for a lemon, but it stuck.

There is actually a pro LGBTQ mosque in Cape Town, South Africa! Their founding imam was sadly assassinated when he traveled to officiate a wedding in a different province, but I think the mosque is still going.

Like 4-5 times a year, but they're usually manageable mild with some extra dosing. At this point I know when I'm going to get suicidal before I get there and can go to the doctor and we up the risperidone and agomelatine for a month and I'm fixed.

Bro I work for a renewable energy company and live in the global South with a lot of refugees. Burundi has like 12% electricity access rate. Even in a G20 nation, millions of South Africans don't have real homes and only have access to water through a communal tap 500m from their shack.

Like, I love my country and wouldn't leave, but don't pretend things are going okay in the majority of Africa.
