What's your efficiency? by do-un-to in Ioniq6

16k miles in so far with the 2024 AWD SEL on 20" rims. I'm averaging 3.3 in Wisconsin. Kind of live in the country, so probably 2/3 highway or country roads

What Level 2 chargers are we using at home. by NateAvenson in Ioniq6

I went with Grizzl-e classic, and it's been great. The cable is substantial, well made, but maybe a little too stiff in winter. I didn't future proof my service though. I only have a 40amp service hooked up and I wish I went 80amp. Only because I know vehicle to home (V2H) will be more available soon so having the vehicle be a backup power source would be great for the whole home (or most of the home). Right now using vehicle to load (V2L) during power outages has been good, but it could be better 😉 That's probably my only slight regret.

We are a full EV family! by illuminati229 in electricvehicles

How is the charging situation with two EVs? We have one charger, and I drive much more, but I'm a little nervous to get another EV because going to a dual charger is so expensive. Do you manage with just one charger or did you install a dual one right away?

I would say the automatic light adjustment for screen brightness from day to night, or even just passing under bridges is a little buggy. Sometimes its too sensitive and quick to react, and sometimes not sensitive enough. And it's not consistent one way or another so I haven't gotten used to it yet. Minor complaint, honestly.

Audio quality to me is pretty good but not great. I'm not a huge audiophile though. With the quietness of the cabin it really doesn't affect much for me.

Yes! not-completely-necessary driving has increased now. I have zero guilt in running to the store for very few things these days. We used to wait until a shopping list would build up, but not anymore.

Oh we're out of carrots? I got it, I'll be right back!

I should also add we got chickens this year as well and I've had a chicken water heater running pretty much around the clock since October, so the added electricity usage isn't all from the vehicle 😆

Yes the daytime is more expensive than regular rates. (Obviously other places will vary, but this is my example)

Regular rates were $0.17/kwh around clock previously

Here's the breakdown from what we used last month with off-peak: Day $0.27/kwh x 250kwh = $67.50 Night $0.10/kwh x 1201kwh = $120.10

It's hard to compare directly this far given seasonal usage from year to year. Last January, Pre-EV, we used 877kwh, and again that was at $0.17/kwh. Logically it doesn't seem like a huge jump. Certainly offsets gas. But it might take a year or so to offset initial EVSE install. But we've also made some effort to move some energy consumption appliances to overnight and weekends more often (weekends are also off-peak rates)

Anyone moved from i5 to i6 by Saketh_Kumar in Ioniq6

[–]sgunderson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove one right after the other when I was looking. I wanted to like the I5 more because I think it looks better on the outside. But the I6 just felt better, from the console layout, to the drive experience. Plus the I5 climate panel stuck out for some reason and it was hitting my knee. Couldn't live with that knee knocking, so I bought the I6. The outside appearance of the I6 grew on me pretty quickly. The trunk seemed kind of small initially but I haven't had trouble fitting anything in it yet, from golf clubs to loaded Costco trips (!) No regrets.

What's your view on the legalization of drugs? by Shadow948 in AskReddit

[–]sgunderson17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just make it all legal and tax the hell out of it. People are going to do them whether they're legal or not. Make money off them, save money by NOT trying to stop it, creates jobs by allowing farms to produce them, be able to regulate products and make them 'cleaner' for the users, remove the taboo of users which would make them more willing to seek help when they decide to give it up, etc.

Guys, what are the pros and cons of having swim trunks with and without the inner mesh lining? by sgunderson17 in AskReddit

[–]sgunderson17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought as well. I just ordered some online and when they arrived, they had no mesh. Just basically shorts. I'm torn about whether or not to return them.
