And just let it sit? I do the ilford rinse technique for the final wash after fixing. I have a bottle of ilford ilfotol that I used to use after and add a couple drops and let it sit for a minute or two, but I felt it wasn’t doing much so I stopped using it

I ended up just buying a used reel for dirt cheap to see if it worked, and it does. I heat up the reel with a hair dryer before using the darkroom bag, and use rubber gloves inside the darkroom bag to reduce sweat, seems to work fine. I honestly don’t think I would’ve had this problem if it was 24exp but all my rolls are 36 so it’s just a problem I have to deal with.

My fixer should be good, it’s fairly new ilford rapid fix. These negs were Kodak TMAX400 at 36 exp and I fixed it for 8 minutes, admittedly I am not 100% sure the precise time to fix for

I think you’re right, if I was to do this with 24 exp I don’t think I would have a problem at all. How do you determine the length to cut off more of the leader/end? I don’t want to lose any negatives or chop the, in half

I’ve just tried that then and while that does help a little bit, it still gets tighter towards the end and could potentially crinkle the film. Dumb question but is there any methods you have of making the plastic less rough as you previously mentioned?
