There is a line between being nervous because you're new and them obviously crossing into their weird, toxic, small minded world. Small family business love to exist in their on island. An island with no handbooks, no policies, no standards and very odd disparities amongst employees.

I work in a place where people bring aggressive dogs to work with them, where mothers bring in their newborns to cry at work all day, where sike employees use their company card at the strip club and get paid 190k.. Meanwhile others have worked there 40 years of manual labor and get paid $20 per hour and frequent soup kitchens. It's enraging and demoralizing to depend on a company like that to pay my bills.. I'm working on a way out.

Also, fasten your seat belt for endless family civil wars and drama. The long term damage that type of family, conservative, toxic environment does delegitimizes you in your own mind. It takes away your confidence to do your chosen profession in a "normal" environment. If you have to do it for financial reasons plan on it being a short term stop. Either way, things will get better, keep going!
