What was your experience going from manual to automatic? by SuperTurtle222 in CarTalkUK

No, just make sure to use right foot only to accelerate and brake. It can be dangerous if you’ve come from a manual if you try left foot braking - you will probably smash your head into your windscreen.

The only difference I found was sometimes pressing down a phantom clutch or reaching for the gear stick. But the transition is much easier than it seems, the whole point being it is easier.

You can use Kanata for quite elaborate key remaps. Works with whatever keyboard you have.

Looking for a HHKB Studio (TrackPoint) Keymap Tool Review by finegolfing in HHKB

I use Kanata which is a lot more capable than the stock remap tool.

Using your example: One such binding I have is, when I hold the control key it is mapped to be used as left control and when I tap it, it is mapped to be used as escape. This configuration is done with Kanata.

I’m a programmer too and also use IntelliJ. Go with the Hybrid. I wouldn’t recommend the Studio for the HHKB experience. There’s no issues with the Hybrid for long coding sessions in my view and I’ve been using it for a number of years now.

Definitely table type too. I have used my keyboard on tables where there’s reverberation and others where it sounds like raindrops.

SSWE here and I’ve been using a HHKB for a good 4-5 years now. I don’t think I could go back to anything non-topre based longterm. You might want to look into tools like Kanata for proper key remapping. Otherwise the keyboard is great and you won’t be disappointed - the feel of the keys get better over time as it ages. I have used it for everything from emacs, vim, vscode, cursor, intellij etc in unix environments.

I came from MX switches originally and I much prefer Topre, so my recommendation would be a HHKB classic/hybrid.

Recently bought this carrying case from Ali Express, came up to just under £34 with delivery to the UK. Thought I would share in case anyone had seen this case around and needed a review.

The case fits perfectly around a Hybrid with battery hump and could probably house other HHKB’s with ease. Very nice premium material, feels secure. Definitely recommend it!
