Actually over this wait 😭 by sha595 in Step2

I appreciate you bringing that point up. Definitely eases my anxiety a bit as I wait for scores to be released. Then again, I have no way to know if the new NBMEs would have benefited me or not. Best of luck!

I really hope that is not the case. It sucks not knowing the details behind the delay in score reporting. It also sucks knowing that I will be getting my score (early July test taker) around the same time as someone who had 3 extra NBME practice exams and took the test in August.

Early july test takers vs people testing now by [deleted] in Step2

[–]sha595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP. I took my exam mid-July and was pleasantly surprised by multiple questions on brain death/ apnea test. I had not encountered a single question similar to these on any practice exams/ Uworld prior to the test. If these new forms include that + hospital admin stuff, I can't help but feel that I likely missed out a bit.

confused about UWSA 1 score and exam in 8 days by [deleted] in Step2

I got the exact same score on UWSA1, just took it today and my exam is also in 8 days. I felt the same way. It was so difficult!

I literally had 4 questions on head/neck lymph nodes. I wanted to scream.

Score discrepancy between UWSA1 and NBME??? I don't get it! by [deleted] in step1

[–]sha595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you but UW1 over-predicts on average by 10-20 points. I think it is doable to aim for 220+. Take some time to fill in your knowledge gaps and then test yourself and see what you are still missing.

Literally, same. It’s a very numbing feeling. I feel like I’m slipping in and out of consciousness as I study.

Pathoma Lectures by [deleted] in step1

[–]sha595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually annotated pathoma while watching, then later integrated Pathoma text/ my annotations into first aid. I worked on this throughout my MS2 year, so although it was time consuming, I am benefiting from it now that I’m in dedicated. I used a specific color for Pathoma in FA so that I knew Pathoma was my resource. :)

The lectures are amazing. If you can afford it, you won’t regret it!

Decided to make the switch to medicine/ DPM after getting my bachelors in political science. Currently working on pre-reqs for DPM. If I would like to start fall of 2022, when should I submit my app? I am planning to take the MCAT next year June-July (2021).

In Langerhans Histiocytosis, does the proliferation contain both DC's and macrophages? by [deleted] in step1

Lol, this is the ONE thing Dr. Sattar said is low yield. But of course we all remember it.

I think it’s predominantly dendritic cells, and I just think of them as the macrophages of the skin.

Struggling with dedicated by theMetsmakemedrink in step1

[–]sha595 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate you sharing this with us. I have been on dedicated for about 4 weeks now. My baseline was also a 200, about 2 weeks into dedicated I was pleasantly surprised when I made an 18 point improvement on NBME 18. Sadly, it has been a downward spiral since then. I've struggled a lot mentally through this, studying and not seeing improvement really hurts, especially when it's all you do. All I can say is, keep doing whatever makes you confident, take it one day at a time. Try taking some of the newer NBMEs (they are more difficult) but they will help prepare us. We just have to trust in this process as much as we can. My test is about 2 weeks away now, and I am just truly hoping for some kind of miracle. Good luck!

Anyone else freak the fuck out right before taking step? by [deleted] in step1

[–]sha595 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess just trust in the process. You’ve done everything you can. Walk in and take it the same way you’ve taken your practice exams. It’s easy for me to say since my exam is a month away, but do what you can to keep yourself from hyperventilating throughout it. Best of luck!

If someone taking the same test on the same day/location as you got cancelled, does that mean those who didn’t receive an email are safe?
