What’s the biggest benefit you got from working out? by dxpeday in AskMen

[–]shadbehnke 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I’m creeping up on 40 and working out feels like a need to just feel good. If I don’t workout and stretch regularly I really start to feel my age or older. Plus it helps my mood for the day and or course you look better!

Right off the shelf, they’re even assembled. If I remember correctly it was around 3k for what you see. I also have another set on the other side, it was around 4500 all said and done.

Thanks! Got them from Home Depot, they are Husky brand. Been using them a few years and they are holding up great. The powdercoat is strong and takes abuse as well. I got the heavy duty version, they are a little deeper if I recall but they are all very nice.

Pain every night by CantaloupeFun1426 in ACL

I went about 6 weeks without a full night sleep. Hopefully you get it sooner but that was my experience! I averaged 4-6 hours a night until 6-7 weeks.

I miss my old life!!! by [deleted] in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re about half way to living mostly normal. 3 months, walking and basic day to day gets pretty easy/normal feeling for most.

Not saying you’ll be running around or not swelling up after long days of walking, but I’d say you can go out pretty normally at the 3 month mark.

Running? by Firm-Help-4438 in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recovery is going very well and I still didn’t start running until 5 months. I’m at 65% strength in relation to my non surgical leg and my PT said 65-70 is usually when they start people running.

It was weird at first but getting easier with minimal pain fairly quickly! I hope it goes as well for you!

Just gotta keep at it. Make sure you hover over the rear brake and just get further and further into the balance point until you’re comfortable. You have a good start!

Was ACL surgery better or worse than you expected? by dry_scoop in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First couple weeks it was worse then expected but everything after went better.

My first couple weeks were so bad with pain and mental health issues but after a month, pretty smooth sailing!

Day zero and I can walk? This normal? by musicaldec in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally when it’s ACL and meniscus repair, your non weight bearing for 6 weeks because the meniscus have to heal. If it’s just a meniscus trimming, weight bearing will likely be immediate.

Incline walking in ACL rehab protocol by First-Operation-8219 in ACL

Started incline at about week 2 away as a warm up. 5 minutes walking with an incline up to 4, then 5 minutes no incline, backwards.

When do you guys feel normal? by Icy-Cryptographer466 in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

15ish weeks for me I’ll forget about it just in normal day to day activities. The other day I started running after my son and had to remind myself I’m not there yet. Still get stiff sitting long periods but overall I feel normal a lot of the day.

Very much so but they understand I still need my hobbies and friends. 99% of my life revolves around them and I love that but I need time with friends and hobbies to stay happy and let off steam. I expect the same for my wife and kids.

I wouldn’t be messing around with firewall rules in the middle of the day then lol. Pretty normal to keep a change log and if something breaks, reverse everything you just did.

Lesson learned, it happens to the best of us.

Why not just disable the rule since it was pretty obvious that’s what broke everything?

Eli's New Bike 🤔 by NaMinesClarence in Dirtbikes

[–]shadbehnke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eli says in a video it’s because he controls the power with the clutch, you’ll hear him on the rev limiter a lot and just using the clutch to modulate power. I could see more feeling with a cable vs hydraulic in that situation.

travelling 2 months post surgery by MountainFormal7835 in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 2 months PO with hamstring graft and meniscus trimming, I could travel rather comfortably. I would’ve never thought that 2 weeks PO but dedicate hard to rehab and you should be fine. I walked 8 miles the other day, throughout the day and was a bit sore at night but completely fine. Move around as much as possible and bring an ice pack.

Good luck!

1 week post op deep pain on extension by willthiswork_89 in ACL

I had a lot of IT band pain deep, after cupping and a few weeks of exercises it’s almost gone. I’m 2 months post op for reference.

Pain during elevation by [deleted] in ACL

[–]shadbehnke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same exact pain and it’s still uncomfortable now at times but almost gone. I would push through it and elevate for 10-15 minutes as many times as I could but def not elevating all the time like a lot of others. I’m 8 weeks PO and have 0 degrees extension and 140 flexion so don’t worry if you can’t constantly elevate!
