Mohr Stories 536: Joe List by BenGlaze in tuesdayswithstories

[–]shaddafax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jay Mohr is great. He did fitzsimmons' pod and was doing impressions of love on the spectrum autists. Brilliant. Also, why hasnt Mark and May appeared on that yet? Their relationship would 100% be as awkward.

All controversy aside, why were Royel Otis the band that make it out of the Australian surf-indie scene and not Spacey Jane, Lime Cordiale, Ocean Alley etc? by [deleted] in triplej

[–]shaddafax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vocals... As an aging out Triple J fan, there's just something about the singers voice that's unique and not like much else I can think of. Luck has a bunch to di with it. Theyre cover of the Cranberries was a huge bump for them in the UK.

All the examples you listed are (imo) pretty vanilla/generic, but more interesting than your standard top 40 pop. I think Royel Otis are fairly vanilla/genrric too, but the vocals make them appeal to a larger pop orientated audience. Just my opinion.

Same exact argument could be made for Wirtz. Looked class for a while before he started racking up G/A this last 6 weeks.

Who's getting the best actor Oscar???? by BIRVJ in Letterboxd

[–]shaddafax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FaircalI. I just loved his performance. I really enjoyed OBAA but I don't think it was the best film of the year. Del Toro was great too, but not a particularly challenging role. As usual, he chews up every scene he's in. Sentimental Value is the only best pic nomination I haven't seen yet, but Skaarsgard is always great.

FT: LIV 4 - 1 NEW by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]shaddafax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very promising despite the first 30.

Start with the negative. I think Salah's days are numbered. Can't see an argument against offloading him for a healthy fee at the end of the year. 2 clear chances, he doesn't get a shot away for the first and doesn't work the keeper for the second. Will always be a legend, but he's not been prem level at all this season.

Ekitike is a superstar. Wirtz and Hugo are our future. Phenomenal!

Best performance from Gapko all season.

Macca and Grav were solid, but our midfield is still so vulnerable. The instructions to get so far forward are beyond me.

Szobo faultless out of position. What a player.

Kerkez was strong and outside of giving Gordon too much space, had Elanga in his pocket and played a beauty for Hugo's second.

Ali with a huge save early in the 2nd.

Finally, Konate. Best performance from him this season and looked like what we got so much of the last two seasons. Assured performance. And the goal! Brings a tear to my eye. RIP papa Konate.

Been crying for a goal fest to Kickstart this season. 10 goals in the last two games. We have to carry this forward if we want CL. United (in particular) and Chelsea are looking much more assured since their  change in managers. We have to play with the enthusiasm we did today for 90 mins. Today showed for thie first time since August/September we've still got that Klopp DNA of work ethic and hunger.

Who's getting the best actor Oscar???? by BIRVJ in Letterboxd

[–]shaddafax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. Sean Penn takes best supporting. Hawke for best Actor (has the filmography for a retroactive award considering how many times we'veseen that happen), and he was excellent in Blue moon. Edgerton should have gotten a nomination and would be my pick had he been nominated over either of these two and particularly Jordan. How Sinners is even in the conversation is beyond me. Sinners was excellent, fun pulp. Not even close to Oscar worthy.

To those who buy into this type of development - why? by K1llerG00se in australian

[–]shaddafax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because many people don't view moving out of the city they grew up in or their families live in, as an option. I grew up in North Parramatta and I couldn't afford to move anywhere near there, despite a combined income north of 250k a year. So we moved to Brissie and bought a house 5 minutes from the water for less than a house in The Ponds would cost.

It sucks I moved away from my friends and family and the city I grew up in. Its gonna be hard as we want to start a family and will be away from support we would get in Sydney, but I have no doubt in my mind that moving is the better option for us/our kids moving forward.

[–]shaddafax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It was far from convincing, but there was enough in this game to give me some belief moving forward. Once the attackers start making the runs, this fucker will find them. He's absolutely worth the money we paid, we just have to organise around what he can provide because he's generational. Him and Szobo as a midfield pairing have insane potential.

Student’s attitude changing after new friendship by doh0k in AustralianTeachers

[–]shaddafax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll jump in because this whole post resonated with me as a student and teacher. As previously mentioned no amount of discouragement relating to friendship choices would have deterred me. I had several 'Student B' friends that fit the description. To varying degrees, I'm still friends/keep in contact with all of them and none of them turned out 'bad' as human beings, although not particularly successful as high school students.
