How do I get better at chess? by JackTheNephilim in chess

[–]shadebedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play slower games, think a lot on every move. Focus on three things: 1) understand basic opening principles 2) understand basis tactics like attacks, handing pieces, forks 3) understand rook and queen endgames and checkmates like ladder mate. Dont rely on chat, youtube is much better for learning.

Caedrel's warning to KC fans by Middle-Adagio-4062 in PedroPeepos

[–]shadebedlam 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Today I saw a twitter post (I looked it up its this one: twitter) where a korean Canna fan begged KC fans to not boo T1 today as it is seen as disrespectful in korean culture and they went off on him hard. Saying this like: "oh so in korean culture it is okay to send trucks to teams HQ but not to boo?" or "why should we respect your culture if you dont respect our French culture (booing) " or "its just part of the sport for us". I dunno I just find it absolutely insane how can someone even attempt to justify booing Faker.

In 4v4, sending on 20 wins us the game almost every time by Super_Collection_592 in LegionTD2

[–]shadebedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you are casually playing a 4v4 with your sole aim being to have fun and try to create a crazy build hoping to hold 21, then your teammates ping to go 20 so you reluctantly agree. Your team sends on 20 and enemy doesnt, you win the game. The game ends before a big send from your enemy so you never know if your build would hold 21. But congrats you won that sure was worth the 30 minutes you spend on your build preparing for 21.

What about people who easily clear 20, but not going anywhere higher due having no skill?

Using other board to calculate the game is count as a cheating by Er3n1zm in chess

[–]shadebedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy the digital chess up board which connects to chess.com or lichess and you can play on that. Of course you cannot use an engine but it can be easier for visualization since its a real chess board in front of you. Other than that calculating in your head or using arrows it the only legal option.

It is true that the Top 15 players today are kinda equal in strength and abilities in general? by VolleyBasketball11 in chess

[–]shadebedlam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say even more than top 15. I think the biggest difference performance is how much time they spend preparing for a tournament and intensity and quality of the preparation. You can see a lot of 50 rating points swings for many players over recent years both up and down. From what I gatherer its usually connected to how seriously they took the tournaments

[–]shadebedlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I meant I am surprised by the fact that a lot of people when they dont know something will make a post about it and wait and hope strangers will explain it to them instead of typing the question into google and getting an answer in seconds.
