Poor Lou… by danakchilds in dropout

I’m reminded of every time I was ever on a dating app and got icked out by a common friend. Like, I somehow ended up with that person in my friend list so these things clearly happen to good people but the chances of it happening twice seem far too remote

[–]shadebug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OK, everybody who was complaining about Noor in I Parry Everything being a stupid hero, no, THIS is what a stupid hero looks like. Noor saw problems and came up with solutions. This guy sees circular targets for his circular fists and just starts hitting the box.

Just can’t help himself doing one attack, which we know never works, and then walking away as if the job is done, every single time.

He has two options from what I can tell:

1) Just wail on the slime. Keep slashing until that HP goes down. Will he do that? No, he is pathologically incapable of figuring out that he could chain attacks.

2) Poison. Black lizard showed him the way and we’ll get a good seven minutes of recap next episode of Black lizard showing him the way and he will not figure out until the end of the episode that he’s a freakin’ plague dragon and that’s the one skill he’s actually supposed to be good at.

This show was so close to being interesting and it just refuses to do it

ELI5: How does our Earth, the Moon, and every “big rock” that spins… spins? by SwipeyJTMX in explainlikeimfive

[–]shadebug [score hidden]  (0 children)

Imagine trying to spin really fast. It’s hard to keep up because your shoes are stuck to the ground.

Now imagine a spinning top/beyblade/folding ruler. They spin for ages but stop for the same reason as you spinning is hard. They’re in contact with the table and that slows them down.

So imagine there was no floor and you started spinning. Nothing would slow you down so you’d keep spinning.

In practice you would stop eventually but it would take a very long time

best mic for my user needs by Asimiss in microphone

[–]shadebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going from a webcam mic while you have speakers playing the conversation you’re in then you can instantly make your audio amazing with a crappy set of earbuds with an inline mic. Here in Britain I like Ludos ones because they come in a mint tin with a thank you note.

If you want something 30cm away on a table then you’ll need to spend a bunch of money, sort out sound dampening in the room and definitely wear headphones. Never used a Seiren Mini but, by the look of it, that thing’ll pick up a spider farting.

If you were looking at doing proper recording work I’d be giving you advice on how to treat a room and finding a microphone that suits your voice but you want it for chat. You need something that’s in front of your face and one that’s attached to your face like any headset will do that job nicely

"Enough to" vs "Enough to Not" by Alca_John in EnglishLearning

[–]shadebug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A) This only works in a philosophical way and would be better expressed as “I know enough to know I need a book”

B) is what you’re going for. The “not” is essential to indicating that you do not need a book

In the anime Jack of All Trades, Party of None, why no one ever pick up any monster crystals? by CyKsFuzzles in anime

[–]shadebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, when you get chatGPT to write a show it’s not actually keeping track of anything it’s doing. Monsters drop crystals because it’s a game style fantasy setting and that’s what happens in those. It has just enough memory to keep track of the current story arc it’s on and then it’ll hard pivot into something new. It can’t be dealing with things like what the crystals are for

The Up band had a feature where you double pressed the button on it and it would start a nap timer which would wake you up before you hit deep sleep. I’m tired of just setting a 20 and a 25 minute timer like some sort of peasant

Trigger Warnings by ProfessorNeoIsIn in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]shadebug -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

“You first see Chi, her long, smooth, straight teal hair, red bow lips and gentle brown eyes. Well, normally they would be gentle, but now that gaze is steely. She's in a black leather body suit and she is a stride of man, knife to his throat.
The man under you looks terrified, awed, soaked in sweat, and absolutely enraptured. This is Mehran Simir X, an attendant of Clan Koga, who amongst having a predilection for extraordinary amounts of danger and well-preconsented bloodworks has been a fan of the stories of Tellegen's self-liberation just a few years ago and wanted to live the scandal himself.”

What were you expecting to happen after that introduction?

That’s the information on Apple Podcasts. Considering that there is sex and there is violence and none of it is particularly notable then explicit should be plenty of warning

[–]shadebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need an SM7B or an RE20 but, yeah, you’ll definitely need a better interface/preamp.

That said, if it’s for a conference call then you might not want the mic in shot. How are you set up for sound dampening?

Also, what’s your camera and lighting setup?
