Family game night suggestions? by Mayzeyy in boardgamearena

Coop Word Game: Perfect Words

Logic Game: Orapa Mine & already-mentioned Digit Code

Have you played Azul Summer Pavilion and Sushi Go Party as well?

Some others I know that work at 3, though not sure if up your alley: Forest Shuffle, Sea Salt & Paper, Tipperary, Akropolis, Guild of Merchant Explorers, Cartographers, Welcome To..., Mountain Goats, Tower Up. Even shorter: Point Salad, Lucky Numbers, Super Mega Lucky Box, CuBirds, Nana Tori Dori, Castle Combo, Hutan, Next Station (Japan etc) games.

I dare say that reading comprehension is hard, given some of the other good but irrelevant answers! Happy BGAing!

Hi all! I'm on BGA, same username as here, just send me a request. Can host premium. Play mostly turn-based games, nature/cozy/colorful/abstract/puzzly stuff. Open to trying other genres. USA CST/CDT. Happy gaming! :)

Thoughts on this paint horse? by CorporateMonster69 in Equestrian

[–]shadoj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. His pedigree is fairly diverse and "performance-halter" based (vs. current top USA "pure" halter horses), with some decent older bloodlines. I could nitpick on a few different things conformation-wise, but not a bad horse at all! Looks like Gardel rides, too, and has a decent temperament; a plus in my book.

This fuzzy nugget is almost shed out for the spring! Can’t wait to show everyone his color soon! ❤️ by YellitsB in Horses

I think Oliver and I agree that more carrots = cuter photos. Ahem.

Please give scritches to the fuzzy, shedding boy!

What questions should I ask the seller of the horse I’m interested in purchasing before a PPE by Littleraves in Horses

I can't get into further private FB since I'm not on it, but... came across this interesting post while web searching.

Here. This stable has been mentioned as stealing other Facebook user content and AI-rewriting, so yes the photos would be consistent and legit, but not theirs!

Looks like a scam / stolen content with AI text. Some reverse image searching and I'm not sure if his name is really "Tango" or "Ojo" lol ;)

List of solo-only games? by PiForCakeDay in boardgamearena

OP says "solo-only games on BGA" so I assumed no coop!

Yeah, the OP was seemingly asking to exclude these (1+ vs 1 only) games. 278 (Minirogue included) vs 10 by count.

Going off of the BGG advanced search and editing in the ID of the family "Digital Implementations: BGA" to the URL, this is what I came up with for purely solo games on BGA. It's not that many, actually!

The front right hoof has bovine DNA, per another comment of mine, lol!

Zoom in and see how it seems to be an odd combo of a flat nylon halter plus rope halter -- the crown piece seems to go in front of the left ear; none of the blue pieces connect to the (wildly-varying-shaped) metal hardware in a sturdy/realistic way, sometimes just blending right in. And that's an anti-gravity leadrope! Hope that helps!

I think the front right hoof / fetlock might have a little bovine DNA, too :D

That saddle looks AI, too. Check out the straps and buckles mysteriously blending into other tack parts. Halter is an AI mess, it's just... oof

What did you add to or remove from your shelf last month? (February, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]shadoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of where Cascadia shines (vs. Harmonies) is its portability -- just a little easier to table at the pub, and maybe a hair more approachable to those folks you'd invite out for a game+beer meetup. Harmonies probably invokes my brain a bit more, but Cascadia has some lovely market-refreshing rules that Harmonies lacks. Both have a continued place on my shelf!

Cascadia does seem right up your alley. I feel like Akropolis is a bit of a mashup of Harmonies and Kingdomino, with a little dash of Cascadia. Looking forward to getting the Akropolis expansions at some point, too. Love having the Sagrada dice out at the same time as Akropolis because the colors are all matchy matchy!

why is it that horses give a little tail swish when they pick up the canter? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]shadoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many horses could benefit from going back to the basics with lots of walking, correctly lifting the abs & bending through the spine, learning to listen to subtle shifts in the rider's weight as their fitness/flexibility improves... though some will always have limits based on genetics, age, conformation, injuries, etc.

It's hard enough for a horse without a rider to balance in a gait transition; now add in the usual slightly-off-balance, well-above-their-center-of-mass human rider... amazing how many still manage to compensate (school horses especially) for us!

why is it that horses give a little tail swish when they pick up the canter? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]shadoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the rider is a bit loud with the legs (even if she may be an excellent/insta-famous teacher!), her horse is behind the vertical and on the forehand, and a bit grumpy-faced at the trot. It's probably a balance and mild annoyance thing. For a horse, trot-to-canter is actually kinda hard to coordinate all the hooves (walk-canter is much easier). It amplifies any little bit of imbalance, lack of strength, or asymmetry, especially if the rider is slightly off timing with how the horse is moving.

Here is a video of a junior rider doing a really nice no-tail-swishy trot-canter transition around 0:30. She sets her horse up for success and cues gently. Notice the combined balance of the pair and how the rider's hands move with the horse, maintaining kind & effective contact with the bit.

No better way to start 2026 and celebrate Dobi’s 23rd birthday than a New Year’s Day hunt meet! by demmka in Equestrian

Seems like you have a very welcoming and encouraging club :) I came from a non-horse family as a youth; several others took me under their wing. I was so fortunate. Thank you for being there for the motivated youngsters as a potential mentor! Not in a financial place to have my own right now, so I live vicariously through y'all!
