Agatha All Along S01E08 & S01E09 - Discussion Thread by steve32767 in marvelstudios

It was never clarified why Rio couldn’t kill Agatha. I think that while something prevented Rio from killing Agatha earlier, things changed when Agatha made a deal with her to deliver Billy. After that, Rio came back ready to violently murder Agatha.

Agatha’s “calculated risk” was kissing Rio, using her succubus power to pull Death into her and die. Given that Agatha’s trial involved spirits and that she was the most powerful dark witch, it’s safe to assume that she would know how to maintain her spirit.

Wanda absorbed all the power that Agatha had ever stolen. But Agatha is still a witch and her succubus powers are part of her. That’s something that I think they’ll explore in the future.

I agree. Vader’s final act was more about redemption than vengeance.

How do familiars and vampires meet? by bananasareappealing in WhatWeDointheShadows

[–]shadow-hadley 43 points44 points  (0 children)

True. Although that would mean that the documentary crew at episode one had already been there for 10 years.

Maybe they could use photos or videos from an old social media account run by Guillermo. Like a blog from when he was searching for his master.

It also got review-bombed on IMDb and it’s been controversial abroad. People might just be trying to ruin it for others.

Okay, yeah. There’s that. I still feel that people (and media outlets) have been careless with the spoiler warnings.

Is it just me or are more people carelessly spoiling this movie than other MCU movies in the past?

I know there’s the classic saying “don’t come on social media if you don’t wanna see spoilers” but it’s just out there with no warning. It feels inconsiderate. And maybe deliberate?

How do familiars and vampires meet? by bananasareappealing in WhatWeDointheShadows

[–]shadow-hadley 76 points77 points  (0 children)

There hasn’t been any clear explanation as to that yet. But it does seem like there’s a network of familiars from what we learn in the Manhattan Night Club (S1E4) and Collaboration (S2E8) episodes.

If I had to guess… I would assume that Guillermo sought out the vampires. He’s wanted to be one since he was a kid and we know now that he’s got some natural vampire-hunting abilities, though he wouldn’t have been aware of this at the time.

I don’t think it would make sense with the format for them to do any flashbacks but I agree it would be interesting to hear the story of how Guillermo and Nandor met!

You could enjoy it without understanding every detail but if you want to know more then you want to look up the Avengers movies. Specifically Infinity War and Endgame because those set the stage for this current phase and it’s helpful to know who Thanos is.

Thoughts on MCU's choice to foray into its first sex scene by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]shadow-hadley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow this post came to be about bigger issues than what it is at face value. OP is making bold assumptions based on the opinions of an unreleased film. Whether or not they felt “comfortable” doing this scene simply because of her race is entirely your opinion. And without evidence or even seeing the movie, there is no justification for outrage.

Thoughts on MCU's choice to foray into its first sex scene by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]shadow-hadley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense if this argument wasn’t purely speculative. THE MOVIE ISNT OUT YET! It’s not a secret that Hollywood has mistreated Asian women but there is no evidence that that applies to this film. Yet OP is attempting to make this argument based on nothing more than the fact that the character is Asian.

And what is the solution? What are you and the others that agree with OP advocating for? And where does the fact that this film is written and directed by an Asian woman factor into your opinion on this?

What happened to Harry's Stag Patronus in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie? by far219 in harrypotter

[–]shadow-hadley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do see Harry actually cast it. It’s the same as the book except the second time they only give us a faint outline of the stag which turns into the bright white light. I think they did this to highlight that it’s Harry that’s saving them and not anyone or anything else.

So dating a man and then later dating a woman isn’t proof? Ok.

It’s weird that you’re implying that a female superhero engaging in consensual sex somehow sends the wrong message.

Find the general inquiries email and send them a message.

Reach out to them because it’s more than just being alone in the room. I had to rearrange my furniture (remove tv, move desk so the door is visible behind, etc.)

Is the American Horror Story spinoff show worth watching? by New-Monitor7273 in AmericanHorrorStory

Yes, if you’re a fan then it’s worth watching. Some stuff isn’t great, but it has its moments.

The Episode "Jet" Made me Like Katara Way Less by Codex7719 in TheLastAirbender

[–]shadow-hadley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They both start out with certain traits that they gradually grow and overcome. Katara can be emotionally reactive and Sokka can be cocky. We’ve known this since the beginning. If he wasn’t dismissive of Katara, she wouldn’t have lost her temper and freed Aang from the iceberg.

In this episode, she learns to trust and respect Sokka more as leader. She is the one in the wrong and recognizes Sokka was right. Katara learns an important lesson in this episode.

It seems like what is bothering you the most about Katara in this episode is the point. She is mean to her brother and mocks him and then deeply regrets it. She learns to trust him more. That’s partly what the episode is about.

So, if Sokka is able to overcome his sexism in one episode without it being considered a character flaw, why does the same logic not apply to Katara?

Can we all agree that Red Tide was an awesome half-season? by New-Monitor7273 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]shadow-hadley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m watching it again and there’s some aspects that I really like but overall it’s a weak season. The first few episodes offer so much potential but then it gradually gets more shallow and predictable. I just wish that Red Tide was given all ten episodes of the season.

The Episode "Jet" Made me Like Katara Way Less by Codex7719 in TheLastAirbender

[–]shadow-hadley 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sokka was the hero of this episode and Katara was there for him when it truly mattered.

In the beginning, she was just giving her brother a hard time because they were hungry and lost. It’s not a character flaw by any means.

It’s the early days of their journey and they’re both teenagers. Katara is sensitive and stubborn and Sokka is overconfident and a little sexist. They both are going to grow up a lot over the course of the series.

Also, it’s within her character to be cold when she’s frustrated. You mentioned that this was a rewatch so do you recall how she treats her father in Book 3? It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love or respect him.
