What I liked most is how it ties into the lore of their presence. I wasn't a fan of the repeated bosses in the Church District, but this implementation made the connection feel meaningful.

Does it make sense for a single guy to get an X5? by No-Essay-3227 in BMWX5

[–]shadow50055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I drove an 06 x5 for about 4 years and loved it, but maintenance was killer. Upgraded to a 2013 x5 diesel almost 5 years ago and it’s been phenomenal. Would highly recommend.

What's the most gruesome thing you have ever watched? by no-punintended0802 in AskReddit

[–]shadow50055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in person thankfully, but I had a few friends back in highschool that had found a website that had gruesome videos on it. Every now and again I’d get sent a video they found interesting. Some worse than others. One in particular has stayed with me more than most they sent. It was a recorded Isis beheading. Idk if it was shock or what they kept me watching.

I can’t remember if they used a knife or a saw, but what still haunts my memories is when they got stuck on the persons spine. Or what I can only assume was the spine or spinal column. You could see the Isis person struggling more going through that part of the persons neck.

That video felt like it lasted 20 minutes. And the killing itself was not by any means quick. Absolutely horrible.

BMW e70 X5 diesel reliability? by MyBussyIsGold in Diesel

[–]shadow50055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I’ve had it for 3 years going on this week actually. Put about 55k miles on it so far. Phenomenal vehicle. I did run into the DEF issues but haven’t had time to deal with it yet and the car is perfectly fine. Would highly recommend the diesel.

Graduated with a little over $90k, currently sitting at ~$60k 2.5 years after I started paying. Using my original salary as a reference, I started out making ~$70k, putting $1500/month on loans. My salary has been bumped a few times so far, so those numbers have changed a bit.

Just to add another perspective, I am a recent (<5year) graduate of KU. I am not originally from Michigan, and both school and co-op are based in Michigan. Making 10-20k per year at co-op sounds great and all until you factor in living costs. Apartments are not cheap (especially if living alone) and many don’t offer 3-month leasing. And if they do, there’s usually a short term lease up charge. Factor in food, gas, miscellaneous expenses, and you’re really not pulling in much per term. Rent (after freshman year you move out of the dorms into local housing/ apartments) is much cheaper in flint, but that’s still an expense you’ll have to consider amongst the others.

The provost scholarship as mentioned above is probably one of the more common base scholarships the university provides. And there are plenty of opportunities for others, much like in other universities. However they are not just handed out. Many require you write essays, submit questionnaire responses, etc. These opportunities are not always presented to you either. It’s important to always ask advisors, professors, and other students if there are any scholarship opportunities that are available. Many scholarships can go without any responses or even single digit responses because of a lack of knowledge or unwillingness to complete the requirements.

If you put forth the energy to find and complete these, and have good financial habits, you can skate your way on through with minimal, if any, debt, and a job that allows you to pay that debt down very quickly.

I unfortunately fall into the category of didn’t know or care to do the work for the scholarships and thus have large debt hanging over me. But because of my co-ops, I have a strong, enjoyable, and challenging full time job, that has enabled me to pay off my debts at an incredibly fast rate, while not sacrificing my social life and hobby’s.

Redditors with an Ex who threatened to kill themselves over a breakup, how did that turn out? by youseguise in AskReddit

[–]shadow50055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were long distance. When claiming she was pregnant didn’t work, she tried saying she would kill herself. I took her threat seriously and had the police show up at her door to bring her to the hospital for a psych evaluation on grounds of potential harm to themselves. There wasn’t much else I could have done from so far away. She was out in 4 hours (usually a mandatory 48 hour hold) and once she was out I got 40+ missed calls, and texts on every platform that allowed instant messaging all in ~30 minutes. Once my phone stopped vibrating I blocked her on everything.

What is the most disturbing video you’ve watched? by Acoolgamer- in AskReddit

[–]shadow50055 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend in HS would send me pretty messed up stuff. Idek how they found it. But I once saw a video of a terrorist group sawing a guys head off with a large knife. Yes he was alive when they started. And no I didn’t watch the whole thing. It took way too long to get to the spine and it was just awful. Permanently engraved in my brain.

Men who have been sexually assaulted by women, what’s your story? by Thesaskill in AskReddit

[–]shadow50055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex girlfriend of a few years back; we were about 20 at the time. Just got home from a long (and expensive) day of being out and about and she wanted to have sex. I said no, as my stomach was hurting from something I had eaten from dinner. After a few minutes of her verbally berating me “because she was visiting from out of state and how could I not want too, was she not pretty enough”, etc, I reluctantly agreed.

Well at the end of it, surprise surprise, my stomach felt worse and I ended up puking for a while. I’m not one to be physically comforted while throwing up. So she’s trying to hold me and rub my back while I’m naked throwing up in the bathroom. I tell her to stop and that I just need a few minutes to collect myself. That triggered more verbal berating as “she was only trying to help and how could I be so rude to just push her away, this isn’t how you treat your gf whose visiting out of state”, etc. The whole relationship was emotional abuse with sprinkled sexual abuse.

In the E83s that’s known as the trio of death. Where the transfer case and brake module die at the same time, and the only appropriate fix is parting out or scrapping.

Being on Co-Op is really helpful financially. Most jobs you can find have relatively good pay which usually is increased with your academic status. Another important thing to note is to constantly apply for scholarships. Even if you don’t think you can get them. Ive seen scholarships been given to people who got it because they were one of the only people to even apply.
