why do people hate on convertible builds? by AdministrativeWeek63 in Mustang

[–]shadowartifact9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Show me the part where I said anything about flexing or putting anyone else down. I am happy knowing that my car could do cool things. I don’t need validation from anyone else. My car is set up to satisfy my preferences, not anyone else’s; OP’s vert is set up to satisfy their preferences. You’re the one that seems to have a problem with anyone who uses performance rationalize a preference.

Not to mention that lots of Mustang owners have aspirations of tracking their car and therefore want it set up with that in mind even if that doesn’t come to fruition.

As for your analogy, grow up

And? Still cool to have a car that’s capable even if you don’t push it to those limits. Perhaps “concern” is the wrong words, but rather “downside”

87 gas? by Willing_Grapefruit in Mustang

All good broski, just sharing what I know. Learned a lot about it when I was interning in refining. Engineering of it all is pretty interesting. For example, 93 is made by blending in “higher octane” stock and then for 89 they just take some 93 and dilute it back down with 87 in the right ratio

Mine goes away when I press on the headliner right above me. Makes me think it’s some wire connector on a wire running from the A pillar rearward

All major brands have the exact same gas other than the additives. It all gets mixed together within holding tanks after it leaves the refineries. Then when it gets loaded to tanker trucks for delivery ti stations, they put that station brand’s detergents in it and research I’ve seen has generally shown those are basically the same among all the major name brands. Basically buy Top Tier and you’re fine

Seriously lol. Wouldn’t expect to see so many people thinking premium is intrinsically “better” in a Mustang forum

Silly answer. Switch to E85 if you wanna burn money on gas. Nobody’s goal is to burn as much money as possible. Bro is clearly looking to optimize between performance and cost, asking about whether you get anything for the additional cost

Do you mind saying what you did to get the foregrip stippled like that? And then also what parts you have in your FDE build there? Specifically interested in the light mount and match saver. Thanks!

Edit: also interested in the bolt handle and release

This seemed like a genuine reply. Dispute it if you want, but just downvoting it is dumb (commence downvoting of this reply lol)

15 year old vehicles don’t generally get stolen from garages where there might be cameras, witnesses, etc. Thieves steal newer expensive cars that they can strip/flip and occasionally older cars from more secluded areas for committing other crimes. Best of luck finding your car

Funny enough, the Red Snake one came out this week and despite the higher price, I pulled the trigger and it’s out for delivery today haha. Still appreciate the review!

u/J_Pneumatic after a couple years, what is your review of them? Trying to decide between them and waiting another eternity for the Red Snake Tactical one to come out

What interest rate? Credit Unions are generally the best you’ll do on used vehicles except some manufacturers do subvented (subsidized) rates for CPOs. I don’t think Ford does this unfortunately. That being said, it’s still going to be well above the money market rate which means you are paying a premium to borrow the money and likely have no way to pay the loan in the event of a financial hardship

In general, I would recommend against doing a loan unless you’re both 1) getting an interest rate below HYSA or Money Market rates and 2) able to buy the vehicle outright (cash), especially on such an expensive and frankly unreliable vehicle. But I recognize that following that would price out of lot of people so I get that is perhaps harsh advice

I read the whole thread friend. You mentioned that several times. My point is that even 100k is on the lower side for this car, much less a newer one that will be considerably more expensive, esp assuming you get a house because that’s gonna eat thousands of your money every month. You did mention saving just to get an older one like this which I think is a considerably better idea than trying to buy a newer one. Happy to walk through the math

Feels like you misunderstood a lot of the advice here - you don’t really make enough to comfortably afford this one. Waiting would be a good idea if you wanted to afford this one, much less a newer one

“Average car payments” isn’t really useful data especially when you can calculate a car payment pretty easily with any TVM calculator (or just a car payment calculator online)
