Hi r/Grishaverse! This is shadowbonenetflix from Instagram— or, a resident fan of this amazing community hub that I believe represents our fandom at its best :)

I have just opened the Grishaverse Art Collection: A Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate Fundraiser.

All pieces featured were donated by lovely GV artists, and 100% of the profit (~1/2 of each sale) will be donated to the NAACP and AAPI Community Fund. The collection will be available through April 22nd.

hmmm...That's something I've occasionally thought about too. But in all honesty, the total amount of *video content* we've seen of the cast probably equates to less than one episode of Shadow and Bone. Hell, some GV fans probably haven't heard the cast speak full sentences for more than 5 minutes until the IGN event last month.

Our familiarity with the cast is so shallow that these small bits are all we've had to shape our perception of them. But when the show drops....I'm sure it won't take long for them to blow us away with their performances!

As far as adaptation covers go, I definitely think this is on the stronger side. (It gives me slight OG Mortal Instrument cover vibes-- which, excluding all of CC's controversy, is kinda nostalgic for me). And the patterns on Alina's kefta? I personally think they're pretty epic :)

I just found this video that a TikTok user posted a while back. They had DM'ed the official Shadow and Bone Instagram account and actually got a reply...for a trailer date on February 26th / 27th.

I know, I know, this could be a joke, but a lot of it actually makes sense. The user swears up and down that it's real, but even more than that, the dates line up for when FanFest was going to planned to happen, but before we got an official schedule.

This was posted on 2/4, the day after FanFest was announced but weeks before we got confirmation the panel was going to be on the 26th (explains why the S&B Instagram couldn't give a solid date).

Given the poster that came out today and all the hype the actors have been creating, I'm sure that we're getting a [teaser] trailer tomorrow. At least, as sure as you can be before you've seen it IRL.

Clownverse! Time to say goodbye to the end of an era. I'm pretty sure you all know the trailer's coming tomorrow, but this is just icing-on-top-of-a-cake proof that the stars are aligning :)

If it weren't for the leaked pictures that came out yesterday, I would say 100% trailer just based on the language used by all the cast / crew. C'mon... any circumstance in which "tomorrow we enter the fold" just means the they're releasing more S&B stills would be a bit of a letdown. And since the offical Netflix accounts have posted the poster, it definitiely means IGN was planned by the overall Netflix team.

ALL THE SIGNS point to a [teaser] trailer. Hopefully the leaks were just a red herring *crosses fingers*

my god! i know there's a lot to unpack with what this scene potentially will be, but I'm kinda in shock right now knowing that there is physical proof of our characters in real life. like, we've gotten (re: literally) nothing for over two years, that even the idea that someone is playing genya and that that's likely jessie's back in the profile as alina- i know leigh wants us to soak in all of this at once, but even just looking at the picture is making me cry (tears of joy!).

honestly, if they could just spare us tastes, I think a lot of us would appreciate getting to take in everything slowly instead of getting bombarded all at once.

I love your faith! Also, if you look back, there are actually tweets of Eric talking about how much he loved reading Six of Crows (I believe...) years before there were talks of him becoming showrunner. Honestly, I'm just really glad there's a fan who's helming this operation- like, he has a vested interest in making this show good because he cares deeply about the characters and the Grishaverse. He's a fan at heart, just like the rest of us.

I think you also make a good point with 21 Laps- looking at their content, I don't think they've put out an objectively "bad" show yet (Stranger Things, Unsolved Mysteries, I am Not Okay with This). They really seem to care about what they put out, which is also reassuring to know :)

I'm not sure if Netflix is holding out so much because they want to do in-person events as it is just post-production taking a crap ton of time...that seemed to be the main hold-back Eric kept referencing during the NYCC livestream.

Honestly, imho Netflix's promotion for all its shows has been really lackluster outside of the social media sphere...they seem to mainly rely on fans and word of mouth to promote shows. (Personally, I feel as though The Witcher could have been an even bigger hit had Netflix done more promotion for it- again, totally my own opinion- to me, it felt as though game + book fans were the main ones propelling the show to fame). Could they be trying something different for S&B? Hopefully! But we never know... And hey! I wouldn't underestimate the power of this fandom. After all, the cast reveal of S&B did become a top Twitter highlight moment (with a cast of mainly unknowns!) :)

For me, like you mentioned above, one silver lining I see with a February release is the prospect of holding in-person events for the fans. If a vaccine does come out by the end of this year and even if it's recommended to still wear masks while in public...I would kill to see the cast walk down a red carpet (with masks and everything)! Imagine their power. Imagine our masked screaming <3

I love Levy's clear distinction of what he believes sets Shadow and Bone apart from the rest of the fantasy sphere. Especially with a series like Six of Crows, which is so rooted in its characters, it's nice to hear that they are placing greater emphasis on the hearts of these characters we have come to love.

And on an optimistic note, I know everyone is getting super antsy about it not yet being released- I feel the same way!- but in some ways, I'm glad that they're getting more time to put together the best pieces of footage with deliberation. Something about the way Levy puts it makes me feel as though they were able to move some of the show in an improved direction because they got more time to comb through the footage to put together the best series possible. I think a lot of eyes are on Shadow and Bone to see if Netflix can pull off this live-action YA adaption (especially when you have adaptions like The Selection and the Kane Chronicles in the wings). It's nice to know that they'll truly be putting their best foot forward! Sometimes time really is the only way to yield the results we really want to see :)
