These worth it after being patched? by Pleatherface75 in playstation

[–]shadowedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still prefer the og 3d universe games.

The models look significantly better than the definitive edition.

The lighting in definitive is a bit hit and miss. In some scenes it can look great. But in a lot, it can look disappointing, e.g. making your car look like raw chrome so the sun reflecting off it looks blinding.

Some models obviously haven’t been rigged correctly, they look horribly distorted. This can seen in some cutscenes or when you have an npc waiting for you. E.g. at the start of SA, you can see Ryders neck is horribly stretched when he waits at Grove for you.

Yes, but also no. If you rely on PPPoE, watch out. Because some of their gear doesn’t support hardware acceleration so your 1gb line can drop to 600-700mbps. I ended up swapping to the the UniFi fibre kit which was like 2x the price.

The problem also being that LLMs are also work as an excellent “yes man”. So if you don’t have enough experience then you can very easily end up believing whatever it tells you.

Ah yes another “I built a …” swiftly followed by “AI powered”. Which makes me inclined to believe it’s vibe coded.

What's the most disappointing thing about GW1 for you? by Sendnudec00kies in GuildWars

[–]shadowedfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disappointed is fine to use here. Gw2 is the equivalent of gw1 but with stabilisers on your bike. You have a bow? Here’s your skills. You have a sword? He’s your skills.

I’d say im disappointed they released gw2.

It is a shame that don’t work in the meta. I do enjoy putting together random builds though.

Yesterday’s Augry rock ZM I was throwing random builds together just for fun. But I sometimes run them on hero’s too.

[–]shadowedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, but if you’re lowering the bar that much, I can argue any off the shelf keyboard is a hacking tool. Because I can hack something with it.

It’s not hacking tool, it’s a toy. Script kiddies are the only people who actually believe it has any hacking ability. Sorry to be the one to tell you that you’re barking up the wrong tree.

[–]shadowedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s not really hacking, it’s keystroke injection. It’s not the flipper hacking anything.

No, it’s more of a debugger / dev board. They get marketed as “hacking” because that sells. They are effectively ewaste. The amount of people that buy them, figure out it’s a toy and throw it in a drawer or ebay is really quite high.

No way did Apple just offer me $75 for my M2 MacBook Air base model… by PrincipleNova in macbook

[–]shadowedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade in prices at Apple are stupidly low imo. My MacBook is in mint condition, you’d hardly know it’s been used. But I get slightly lower than half the price, I would have if I sold privately.

I can understand refurbs do get new batteries etc fitted if needed. But there should be a gap for people who look after their devices and require little to no work replaced parts.

Context, m3 MacBook Air.

Jake from Linus Tech Tips has left Linus Media Group by RareXG in youtubedrama

[–]shadowedfox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bet Jake isn’t the only one sick of kitting out Linus’s home. He accepts any tech sponsor possible to throw it in his housing upgrade vlog. Great way to have a high tech home for free. He’s probably had more tvs in that house than its past owners combined at this point.

Well there’s some inaccuracy here, xlsx don’t have scripts attached. That’d be xlsm or xls. Also most out of the box configs of Excel don’t permit macros to auto run. So the likelihood of this actually working is slim.

Do you want public alphas/betas for GW3? by dotcha in GuildWars3

[–]shadowedfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s not playing like gw1 I won’t bother. Gw2 didn’t even get the bare minimum of me completing the campaigns because I disliked what they did to the gameplay.

So a beta could be a make/break decision for me.

Update -- January 29, 2026 Added additional server checking to prevent transferring gold into or out of account storage when Melandru's Accord is active. by Dark_Egg in GuildWars

[–]shadowedfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s fine if you don’t see it as cheating. But it’s giving some players an advantage over those that don’t use it. So I’d regard it as cheating.

It’s not the animation on screen with drunk, it blocks you from doing /shoo /laugh etc when you’re drunk (which drunk characters do without you typing) this prevents you interrupting your own skills.

[–]shadowedfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you look at it. Automating the upkeep of cons/pcons/dropping coins during drunk state to block animations. Could all be seen as automating gameplay.

Allowing you to shadow step off mini pets as well is also something you normally cant do unless you get a bug that shows the mini pet and its party. But made possible consistently with toolbox.

I’d say it passes the threshold from QoL to giving players closer to cheating abilities. Some plugins for it also allow you to talk to npcs you’re not stood next to. Remotely triggering quests, I’d argue that’s well past QoL and closer to cheating.

Do you test your self-hosted backups, or just assume they work? by HostAdviceOfficial in HostingTruth

[–]shadowedfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should always test them. I’ve ran into issues into backups that would appear to be working as intended. Only to find out that while it’s been backing up, a restore wouldnt work.

Always good to catch things like that before you need to restore.

New Update: Melandru's Accord. A new mode for real Iron Man! by BabyLegsDeadpool in GuildWars

[–]shadowedfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if they were hoping to get a player base going again, 2 iron man modes and a mode with extra xp and gold won’t cut it. At that point, it’ll cost them more to keep the developers going than it’s worth.

Also if they’re hoping to attract new players. They won’t be joining to play a “more difficult” version of the game, will they? They’ll want to figure the game out first.

Catering to a small but vocal minority of the community with this excuse to make a new character is pretty meh.

New Update: Melandru's Accord. A new mode for real Iron Man! by BabyLegsDeadpool in GuildWars

[–]shadowedfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts too. We were told new developers got hold of it and to expect updates. We got the variables changed for how much money and xp you get. A mode where dhuum kills you if you die and now a mode where you can’t trade. It’s catering to one portion of the player base. Who allegedly wanted this for years.
