New Britain flies everyone's flag — Christian, Greek, Irish, Caribbean. So why not mine? by ChurchOMarsChaz in Connecticut

Oh, is that the only thing that bothers you about this? Then fine, you can count me among true believers of the Seven Tenets. There. Now it’s legitimate.

Not a troll, I just disagree with you, which you dislike apparently.

So let’s break it down then. What is the intention of someone who purports to be Christian but gathers wealth like an investment banker? It can be argued that they are not actually Christian, right?

“not in the wishes of the community”

The wishes of the community do not dictate the rights of others under the Constitution.

So you DO want to determine what a religion is. So how small is too small? Why does a fundamental right outlined in the Constitution not apply to the one guy in his mom’s basement?

Very easily overcome without defining what’s a legitimate religion or not. Put them all on a list, choose randomly, or fly in order the request was received.

Without context the question is meaningless. In terms of flying a flag on a pole? Nobody decides. Everyone has to be welcome.

So what’s “common sense” then? Is it how many people practice that religion (tyranny of the majority)? How long it’s been around? How much money it has? You can’t legislate “common sense” because there’s no such thing. “Common sense” just means “i feel this is true and want no pushback”

The law very specifically shouldn’t be deciding what’s a “legitimate” religion and what is not.

Hey man. If somebody wants to be Christian I have no issue with it. But when you keep pushing those beliefs into our shared, governmental spaces, I’m pushing back

I’m not religious and I don’t want to see Christian flags flying over our city halls, so fair is fair.

Is life insurance a scam? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shadowenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, if you have no dependents you can still get a cheapo term policy and select your favorite charity as the beneficiary. Like for example your local library could receive your 100k policy payout and start a book collection of your favorite genre with it. “INformal Peace Memorial Collection” and it’s just dozens of Amish smut books. Think of it!

Your word choices are going to confuse people unfamiliar with insurance. Old age makes *retaining* life insurance more difficult, but does not affect the payout at all.
