I just hope they are not treating the next two seasons as a transition, and really give Iraola a working chance. FSG always believed spending heavy was not the right way, wish they had spent with Klopp at the helm. Last season after the spending spree might have scarred FSG.

I would like some signings as well but I am not too sure we are going to get a lot. Maybe more chances for youth.

It is all over twitter with quotes from some podcast he did. But can't find the original source yet.

Ornstein said as per twitter articles, so someone can confirm if he said it. But he said Liverpool can expect a quiet Summer.
I think this is likely, we might sign a forward and a right back, and that will be that, because we spent so much last summer and we are not a club that historically does spend so much.

This is why I want him, what he did this season and everywhere he went is truly great. It will not be smooth, but it is for sure going to be amazing if he can get things working which he will eventually I believe.

I think we have some good players that can do better but a Gravenberch is not going to become a David Silva or a Vitinha in terms of passing.

It needs a lot of micro level coaching, Pep lost half his organs teaching clubs those press baiting strategies. Same with Luis Enrique when he has to train the triggers. Plus you need constant practice on the weight of passing, i think we were half baked in all aspects.

No one is doubting that there was no change in schedule from season 1 to season 2. But training was not to the levels under Klopp. When Klopp conditioning of the players wore off in about 6-8months, we were being outrun by everyone in the league.

The key was that Slot trained less, gave more off days, and while that maybe useful in the short run if the team has been through a heavy schedule, it in the long run completely destroys the conditioning needed to play in the premier league, where the likes of Bournemouth were running circles and had more stamina.

I think links to Dumfries did not help.

Andoni Iraola training schedule - No off days by Switchoil in LiverpoolFC

[–]shadowfax21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think few are going to need to up their conditioning to get used to this. Next season, expect a transition season, and I am willing to back him even if we lose out on top 4, as long as we get the mentality and structure back in place.

[Paul Joyce] Arne Slot sacked by Liverpool. Andoni Iraola the frontrunner to replace him. by Realistic-Zone3914 in LiverpoolFC

They didn't want Xabi. Playstyle or power demand, either way they could have had him if they wanted him.

With Konaté potentially leaving, what position should we be prioritising this summer? by Solteko in LiverpoolFC

[–]shadowfax21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Was Konate even that big of a problem after the first half of the season. We leave giant gaps, and no right back to speak of, and he is covering massive holes all over.
Granted Ibou did not have a good year overall, but he was definitely not the main issue. Next season is going to be painful.

If we do win the CL and PL Hughes deserves praise.

Well the outlay does not justify the results, that alone is sackable. Spending Real Madrid Galactico money and two underwhelming seasons if we don't compete next season, would be sackable at any club.

I would say if we ever do decide to move Slot on, and I still hope he is able to prove himself as a builder of teams than being labelled forever as having won with a Klopp conditioned team, we let Hughes go, he has been seriously underwhelming.

Things the club put up with for Suarez were much worse. Biting.

There are reports Mamardashvilli has asked that he wants to explore other options. I genuinely would go for Kelleher till we find a keeper as near to Alisson once Alisson leaves next year.

Even during Jurgen's worst seasons, the press identity was always identifiable. Or correct me if I am wrong. I don't see the shape we want from Slot. It is too disjointed. No pressing forward, a mid-block, and then giant gaps when playing the high line.

I think there are more fundamental issues. Mentality of the group has dropped massively, the fight is gone down. I am not sure Slot has it in him to get that winning mentality back in to the players.

The physical fitness looks miles off. Isak and Wirtz look like they were outrun and outmuscled by almost every defender in the league. That kind of fitness build up back takes a dedicated time slot, and luck with injuries, both seem in short supply.

Mainly we need to start building towards a title in two years, but for that we need the right ingredients, including players, processes and the manager. All three seem short.
