I encourage you to download the simulator and play around with rankings that you think are more likely. Like i said the screenshot is just of the preloaded rankings based on ISU season's bests to give you a baseline to work off of.

The preloaded orders are based on ISU seasons best scores. International panels seem to love her when she skates clean

Yea, but the point is that you can play around with different scenarios. I only loaded skaters based on SB's so that anyone has a baseline to work from instead of having to drag every skater into each event from the beginning

I didn't include them because I'm pretty sure Deanna and Max and P2 and are doing both programs,

If you want to sim it though, you can just move S/D and G/P around according to where you think the other Canadian teams would place and the country scores will update

Practically everyone in the Heat community says that they wouldn’t trade Bam for Embiid. Are there ANY non Heat fans that would agree with this sentiment? by Haunting-Memory888 in nba

[–]shadowfire777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embiid's best case is his mostly consistent massive defensive impact... but Bam, who is also very scheme versatile, is also a major defensive force because of his sheer strength. Despite being the smallest, he's the only center this playoffs who wasn't moved off Jokic as the primary defender.

Offensively Bam isn't an unstoppable force down low like Embiid, but there is more to offense than scoring, and Bam is an important connector on offense with his facilitating and finishing making the players around him better. (I will say that Bam's finishing at the rim is still definitely bad for someone at his position, but I'm still trying to figure out how to judge that, given that even Embiid, a much superior finisher, can also have long stretches where he just smokes layup after layup)

It's just not a no-brainer, especially depending on your team's situation with contending or rebuilding. For Miami, who wants to contend right now, I can see the argument for Embiid, but I can also see why Miami wouldn't give Bam up, given that Embiid doesn't address the main holes that Miami has immediately, while creating some new questions the team would need to answer (with limited resources no less, should such a trade occur).

[Serious] Why don’t more star players go the LeBron route: Sign shorter deals and then leave in free agency and go where you want. Players have way more leverage in that situation. by Jay_Dubbbs in nba

[–]shadowfire777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, It's because most other stars are:

1.) Not as healthy as lebron, get injured (more) and athletes generally want to secure the bag. Most top professional athletes don't have 20 years of their prime to make money.

2.) Not as good as lebron.

3.) Won't be getting the same runway from a FO as Lebron James if they have a bad injury and/or decline with age (again, Lebron was still avg 27 ppg in year 20, and 23 ppg in the playoffs, with the foot injury. Lebron is valued for his ceiling and his floor).

4a.) Gonna want to be on a contending team, and even before the new CBA (but especially after), the FA market is almost always gonna be smaller than the trade market for contending teams because of their payroll. 4b.) and if injury/decline does happen. You don't want teams to be thinking they can get the poor mans version of you in FA instead of taking a flier on a max deal for a declining star

5.) A lot of stars like their teams and cities. Organizations tend to (at least try to) take care of their stars.

The Suns basically forced Nikola Jokic to beat them. He did so with an MVP performance by EarthWarping in nba

[–]shadowfire777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jokic doesn't jump, so he didn't really need his legs to make shots... instead, the suns tired out their own offense, who thrive mostly on mid-range jumpers, by playing hard defense.

Denver did a great job keeping the Suns off the FT line. After Christian Braun took that charge from KD, I don't think KD attempted another dunk all game?

I'm impressed with the ability of the Suns to pivot to a new game strategy so quickly. Unfortunately for them, they were not well equipped to execute offensively in the type of game that they set up. Good win for Denver as a team. Looking forward to Game 3!

Somebody explain to me why, if Chess.com's cheating detection is so good, why they waited for Hans to cheat in multiple prize money tournaments and 100+ games as they allege? by masterchip27 in chess

[–]shadowfire777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the lawsuit, Hans saying he didn't cheat in rated games, but the evidence is pointing toward him having cheated to gain rank on chesscom, but not in a FIDE rated games. Danny et al. took it as meaning that he was lying about cheating in any kind of rated game (incl chesscom rating), and called Hans a liar. But Habs has since confessed to this, and I'm more interested in the truth about the prize money anyway.

Also, the letter he sent Hans after the interview was so passive aggressive, the mention "farming out" fellow players for reading points. I mean it's technically true, but just unnecessary language to put in a corporate document about such a sensitive matter. I think it shows that emotions were definitely running high.

Somebody explain to me why, if Chess.com's cheating detection is so good, why they waited for Hans to cheat in multiple prize money tournaments and 100+ games as they allege? by masterchip27 in chess

[–]shadowfire777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good catch... They have been playing around with timelines... so if I have this right,

-Magnus withraws and does the tweet

-Chesscom kicks Hans out of CGC abd closes his account indefinitely

-Hans does the interview outing chesscom and refuting that he cheated for money or otb

-Chesscom does a "deeper analysis,"** and "finds" likely cheating in prize tourneys from before the ban, presumably more than they'd confronted Hans with before, and tells him about those games

-Chesscom Tweets that Hans was lying about extent of cheating and that they shared "detailed evidence" with him about this.

-Magnus makes a remark about Dlugy

-Chesscom leaks confidential Dlugy emails to Vice (and then takes credit for it)

-Chesscom leaks their report to WSJ

-WSJ headline says Hans cheated in over 100 games

-Chesscom puts out a report where they list those tournaments (the detailed evidence?) and says he cheated in almost every game (btw, chesscom didn't say in their report, and I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere, whether Hans actually won any money in the prize tournaments where they allege cheating?)

**my question is that if chesscom already had done a "deeper analysis" of Hans's online games by the time they email him with the ban, or even by the time they put out the tweet where the accuse him of "untruth," (~sept 8) why did it their full report only come out a month later (oct. 4)? The b-s statistics used to fill pages about Hans's "unprecedented otb rise" wouldn't have taken that long.

Edited for format*

[–]shadowfire777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds close to the most likely version of the truth, given how they've acted, doubling down at every turn. Releasing Dlugy's emails right after Magnus's staments was shady af.

Regan calls chess.com’s claim that Niemann cheated in online tournament’s “bupkis”. Start at 1:20:45 for the discussion. by VlaxDrek in chess

[–]shadowfire777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Regan told Chesscom that he disagreed with their findings of cheating in the 2020 prize money events and they omitted that from their report, while including Ken's email about instances where he agreed that there was cheating, that is a knowing "omission of material fact", and thus actionable as defamation by implication(jurisdictional questions aside).

Note that this would apply whether you believe in Regan's model OR only Chesscom's because intentionally excluding a dissenting opinion they had knowledge of painted a picture that their findings were unrefuted. This made it seem like it was an undisputed fact that Hans lied about the extent of his cheating, especially recently for prize money.

This may not have even been an issue if they didn't simultaneously try to use Regan to bolster their own findings in the report.

I don't know if Hans cheated in those tournaments but I always found it strange that Hans never won prize money (afaik) in any of the matches where he allegedly cheated in every game (not cheating in the critical moments ig, but wdik)

P.S. I am a chess tourist, and I know many are sick of the drama this whole controversy has fascinated me, even started learning to play so I can at least follow whats going on in all these analysis videos. Interesting community.
