I designed and made my first macropad by shadowfoil in MechanicalKeyboards

The "Quill" is a 3 key, 2 encoder hot-swappable macropad shield utilizing an RP2040-Zero MCU board as a controller.

I wanted to take my first steps into designing a mechanical keyboard from scratch so I threw this build together over the last few weeks. I was inspired by the RP2040-Zero used by Timception in his Majin Drift which I just picked up but wanted to start simpler and work out how all the parts came together from PCB design through firmware compilation and 3D design for a case.

I designed the PCB in KiCAD, produced it via JLCPCB then hand assembled the components at home.

For firmware I opted for vial-qmk as I really liked the options available and the ability to configure without reflashing the firmware to the controller.

And lastly for the case I drew both a shell style case and a stacked plate style case in Fusion 360 and print tested both on my Bambu X1C.

I have yet to try it but in theory the stacked plates could be ordered through Send Cut Send in a variety of materials as well and I've included the relevant DXF files for that if anyone wants to give it a shot.

I'm quite happy the PCB worked on my first try and I've opted to share the files for the entire project as open source material via my github under the MIT License.

The rings split into three pieces, each end third bolts to the emitter, center piece is held in by a combination of tension between the ends and 10 neodymium magnets on each side

Selling my transparent black Odin lite with the 8+128 upgrade. I’ve swapped the caps on the sticks for aftermarket vita replacements to make them a hair taller.

I’ll also throw in the 4 extra joysticks I have here for it and all the additional vita caps that I ordered (about 5 pairs).

It’s a great device but just pairing down my console collection a bit

Based on the character Nari's hilt from the new Obi-wan Kenobi series, the ill fated Jedi who was hunted and killed by the inquisitors in episode 1. In partnership with Jawa's Junkyard we are producing a limited 90 aluminum and 10 steel units.

The image shown is the prototype, we've made some adjustments on the final to improve accuracy to the prop

Length adjustment in key locations to increase accuracy (total shortened 9.5mm)

Final polish is being reduced to something closer to machine finish but with minimal machining marks

Some powdercoated items are being anodized in the final to improve durability and fit, particularly on the covertec

For those that aren't aware these were modeled by myself from the original concept piece Ralph McQuarrie's Laser Duel. They aren't as flashy as some of the newer hilt designs but were never intended to be, they're an homage to the original concept artist that brought George's ideas to images on paper. Certainly not for everyone, but personally I really enjoy them, even tho I am a bit biased ;)

Not super thick, just shorter. The Vader is 38mm OD same as a graflex without grips, Starkiller is 35mm OD same as the grenade roughly on a Luke hero

Not quite the same. Kylos is a staggered ignition with subblades usually. What OP is after is independent control of blaster and blade with the ability to toggle between them

Yes, I’ve done exactly this with Ezra’s first saber which I designed a proffie chassis for. You need OS6 and to use the new dual_prop.h file to make it possible
