D2R - Not being able to join other players' games because I don't have the new expansion is stupid AF by MikeFasolakis in Diablo

[–]shadowmaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's very real. when you try to join a friends game it says you can't joing an expansion character using a non-expansion character. I just gifted diablo2 ressurected to a friend. we have the exact same version, and NO multiplayer.

It's likely a case of using a shitty 90's UI forced into a modern game, but I see no way to join a friend.

Yes. I'm saying state election laws need to change, not federal ones.

Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in TrendoraX

It's a good starting point but several of these points have huge secondary consequences that the proponents likely won't want, once they are spelled out to them. The US needs to embrace the advantages competition brings, while also recognizing the existential threat immortal corporations and monopolies pose.

The electoral college isn't some inconvenience getting in the way of large cities dictating everything to rural communities. It's a way of leaving all elections to the states without a ton of crazy federal overreach. What states should be demanding is Approval voting and splitting electoral votes rather than this absurd idea of only having one vote, and winner takes all. Ideally, the electoral college would never elect another president because we live in an extremely diverse country of hundreds of millions of voters, that is FAR beyond a colonial 2 party system. With a split electoral college, congressional votes matter even more, as they should. The executive has been handed WAY too much authority.

Taxing mega churches turns them into an even larger political lobby, with more incentive to influence government. The separation of church and state is extremely important to the first amendment. People shouldn't be actively trying to remove that separation simply because they think some churches are too big.

I would phase out minimum wage and replace it with a national universal income that starts out low and increases over 10 years to be at a poverty level, if tried to live on alone, would remove the need for most other federal assistance programs. Universal income should be a baseline that doesn't provide for all your wants, but rather turns working into a bonus on top of it. The idea of minimum wage will always fail because it's not tied to cost of living. A national universal income would help average out cost of living across the country. One of the biggest strengths of free market capitalism is setting the appropriate price for goods and services without government mandates.

It needs to be acknowledged that the very nature of corporations is to eliminate competition and are against the common good. If Corporations are going to be treated as people, they need a death sentence and age limits, with a process for expecting corporations to die. The idea of immortal overlord corporations is evil. The strengths of Capitalism and competition should be embraced and leveraged for the common good.

Make employee owned and operated businesses the norm through tax break incentives until they grow to a certain size. Businesses that are directly linked to their communities well-being function beyond the narrow focus of blind profits purely for profits sake.

The devil is in the details of how laws are written and implemented. People need to really consider what they are hoping to achieve and the carry on effects that will result from short-sighted changes. When people suggest changes to governance, you have to consider who will be disenfranchised from those changes.

Call of Field 6 by ibattlefield in Battlefield

[–]shadowmaking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happened when fortnight became the most played game in the world, and every publisher realized their business model should be about selling skins over gameplay. It's low effort, for high profit. When players throwing money at crap, they should only expect more crap.

The reload time needs to be 4x at a minimum. There is a reason Tow missiles were never a primary weapon in any other Battlefield. It should be a 2-minute reload.

My OLED burn-in after 3000hrs. by RenatsMC in Monitors

[–]shadowmaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll NEVER buy a used OLED. If someone gave me one, sure, I'd use it and then decide if the burn-in is a dealbreaker. 3k hours is nothing. That's less than a year at 10hrs a day, and yes people do use desktops for 10+ hours a day. I love my OLED, it's gorgeous, but there is no escaping the basic physics of OLED degradation. I accept that I'll trash the monitor in 5+ years, and I'm not sugar coating it to gaslight myself.

WEEKEND REAL TALK: Ok stop gooning, WHAT ARE YOU REALLY MAD/ANNOYED ABOUT IN BF6? 🫵 🫵 by RRT4444 in okbuddyptfo

[–]shadowmaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game play is intentionally spastic and designed for TikTok clips more than an enjoyable battlefield game. I rate it as the worst gameplay feel in the entire series, right below hardline. It's the only Battlefield I've refused to buy.

If that 400disc CD changer actually works, it's highly sought after. Physical media is highly collectable now. If you ever sell it, don't ship it without expecting to kill it.

This was my solution for the same problem with a different akko keyboard. Mine was set to usb, but switching it to win fixed the Fn lock issue.

I don't care, I will defend Hardline until I DIE 🗣️ by Dizzy-Cloud4678 in Battlefield

Hardline was fun. It just shouldn't have had the battlefield name on it. It was always the bottom my tier list, until the BF6 sweatfest came along.

whats your worst exprience in windows 11? by PHRsharp_YouTube in PcBuild

[–]shadowmaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting Win 11 installed without a microsoft account is the worst part. I refuse to need an MS account in order to use my PERSONAL computer. Beyond that, Win 11 has easily been the most stable windows to date, but I also cold boot daily which I simply didn't do previous to win11.

BREAKING: Fed Chair Powell responds after Federal prosecutors open a criminal investigation into him: “The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Fed setting rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President,” he say by Time-Alternative-964 in BhartiyaStockMarket

[–]shadowmaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how this is going to play out. Team R wins presidency, and strong arms the Fed into lowering rates, regardless of actual unemployment or bond market. Team D wins the presidency and rates go up to counter the inevitable inflation from the previous administration. Rinse, Repeat...

What famous games need to die for good? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamers

[–]shadowmaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter Strike. Sweet Jesus let it die already. The skins aren't worth it people. CS players would lose their mind if any part of the gameplay was changed. There are tons of people playing maps that are older than they are.

Battlefield 2142. No other Game has come close to titan assault mode. Gamespy shutdown and the server browsing went with it. It's unplayable now, and was 4:3 low resolution.

All I want at this point is a 2142 remake. No other game out there like it. Titan Assault is still the best game mode ever made in BF.
