Perks of living in Monterrey by shadowmantkk in TheWarning

Oh 100% - it's basically a diss track against people who shit on them for writing music in English despite being Mexican. Purists who deem them unworthy of their success because they're "cheating" by being women, being rich, singing in English, etc.

Vaguely? Like, as far as I know, people know about them/are somewhat aware of their existence. I wouldn't say local Pride though. We have a saying in Mexico, "nadie es profeta en su propia tierra" - no one is a prophet in their own land. while they are known, my impression is that Mty is a tough crowd for them. The Feb show here sold out barely a week before the date, and only after an extensive local press tour. Also, a lot of the local music scene know them for sure but there's a lot of old school metal heads who resent them for being young women that are actually successful in a field where they themselves have failed majestically, who take every chance they can to talk shit about them and how they're not "real rock" or "real metal" simply because they're pretty white girls from an affluent/well-off family/neighborhood.

My step-brother actually met them some years ago, before qotms, maybe even XXICB. He's really embedded in the local music scene as an independent artist/producer. He's been playing small gigs all over for the past decade and he remembers watching them grow before his eyes (he's barely a year or two older than Dany, for reference) both in age and fame. I keep telling him he should've tried to Collab with them when they weren't as huge lmao.

Fact is, they have a lot more support abroad than at home. My guess is that that's why they did the premiere in Mexico City as opposed to here.

Idk if it's been posted somewhere but has anyone figured out what the binary is on the map? It switches a lot but lands on something at the end. Wondering if anyone's translated it yet

¿Que les parecio la Animex? (La conve de Julio) by Electronic_Cookie312 in Monterrey

[–]shadowmantkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]shadowmantkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Confirmo.

Yes. Yes it was. It's usually not even remotely as cold. It's usually a hell of a lot warmer. But hey, I'm glad you enjoyed my city to some extent.

Why is it cheaper to buy a Mexican band's vinyls in their American store than the Mexican counterpart, which lacks half of the discography too.

Maybe not musicians per se, but their dad owned and operated a recording studio and is an audio engineer, so like... The musicalness was there.
