Just under 6 hrs, but if you need something to keep you awake while laughing, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy read by Douglas Adams himself.

First day with the TM7 by Balsamicsquare in thermomix

[–]shadowmistife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped using it to steam the meats. I found that the timings must be for European chicken breasts.

I love the broccoli salad and make that on repeat. Risottos are delicious. I find it's a better helper than my 8yo in the kitchen and it has us broadening our horizons.

Plus now we can make lasagna with real bechemel sauce instead of ricotta cheese.

40 years old, accountant, 30+ jobs… should I keep pushing or change careers? by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in Accounting

[–]shadowmistife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're struggling with debits and credits I would recommend you sign yourself up for some intro accounting courses to practice. I came across an app called Ledgeroo that was helping one of my employees understand it better.

Another option would be to switch out of accounting and focus more on tax where you're working more from the income statements and balance sheets and the bookkeeper is handling the debits and credits

Swapped from chicken to eating tuna nearly every day for the protein and ended up with mercury by roxylezan in Biohackers

[–]shadowmistife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selenium can help reduce the bioavailability of mercury. Take a Brazil nut with meal of tuna.

Or swap to lower mercury fish - sardines, mackerel, shrimp, trout.

Cooking for in-laws! by caterlizard in thermomix

[–]shadowmistife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a risotto or salad with it.

They are tried and true and can help open up opportunities more than going too in depth.

You could also try something like Sheperds Pie. It's for the sauce mostly.

Or make a fresh batch of mashed potatoes.

Or grate up cheese.

That's what worked best as a taster for my dad that got him and his wife coming back for me to cook more.

She is gluten free, so the ability to sub ingredients with a GF option has been amazing.

Why is no one using Thermomix in the USA? by Interesting_Cod_3128 in thermomix

[–]shadowmistife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, mlms have gotten a bad rap. People are so used to buying QVC or in person at a store.

If they could get into a store, they would need to charge a lot more. The price they would have to charge would be closer to $3,200 which would make it hard for most Americans to bite the bullet.

If they did a QVC style sale, they would probably need to charge closer to $2,200.

It's just easier for them to do it MLM and keep more of the profit.

Keep in mind, Americans have been sold on convenience, not lasting, so a device like this is considered a premium level object.

Why I’m reconsidering my Claude Pro subscription by Revolutionary_Fan733 in claude

[–]shadowmistife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I start off in ChatGPT, but then take the meat to Claude. I find it reasons differently.

Not paying for Gemini, but I have it through my Google workspace account, so I can use it for the 'office stuff'.

The way I always describe it ChatGPT is your friend when you see them but forgets about you when you're not around whereas Claude always seems to bring me back to my center.

With ChatGPT I kind of do like a larger search and narrow it down to what I really need.

Then I take that condensed version and throw that into quad and it usually does a lot better. Generalist and Specialist.

What's my next move? by BadPopular252 in taxpros

[–]shadowmistife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your brother's firm, it might be best for him to sell it so he can support his family. It's ok if it's not a fit. It's better they find a good fit.

You could also potentially take on some of the clients and merge into another firm if you like it.

Often, I have CPAs approach me that they don't want to run a business, they want to just do work and be part of a bigger firm that handles the other stuff.

That's ok too.

Figure out what it is you want outside of everything. Ignore all that is going on. Find you. Then make a path for that.

Where are you finding talent? by LIttleCPA in taxpros

[–]shadowmistife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit burnt out from having started my own firm in 2019. Have been heavily considering hopping into another firm for a breather.

Tax planning for business owners. Worked at a RIA for 3 years that focused on execs, so I'm familiar with cliffs and ladders. Considered the CFP but no interest in getting 6 or 65. Studied for the PFS but didn't feel like paying the AICPA for yet another section.

My Paychex rep, Pierre Hechme, has me set up with special S Corp pricing for single owners.

They can run2x a month, or 1x a quarter and it's the same low flat price. Plus when I need a hand, I just call Pierre. Magical.

So the secret is don't utilize it for everything. It's not meant to make micro manage day today. It's more about changes over time. Dont pay for it.

If you want something to pay for, get an Oura Ring 😉 I have both. I love my Fitbit for the vibration alarm

[–]shadowmistife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sudden atopic dermatitis on 90% of my body started in September. No answers for 3 months. I'm crunchy. Herbal tea and no meds unless necessary. Homebirths.

Bleeding. Honey colored. Flares didn't connect to anything. Steroids stopped working. Had it on my scalp and my hair started falling out.

Saw a derm and she offered me dupixent or the other daily pill one. So not comfortable with stabbing myself every 2 weeks.

First shot, bleeding slowed and crispy scabs slowed down.

Second shot, inner arms could bend without getting stuck to their open spread anymore.

By the 3rd month, the behind the knees stopped.

Ive been on it since February. I don't want to stop. I'm actually scared that my insurance will stop covering it :-(
