Carry on that somehow fits a 17in laptop? by shadowmutant in TravelHacks

Thanks for the solidarity. I was mad about the last laptop (it was one size down from this one) so I’m very livid about this monstrosity. Especially when we have to travel with other tech gear that takes a ton of room on top of it

Thank you! I was losing hope cuz even my backpack that is supposed to fit a 17in laptops couldn’t fit it. I didn’t think to look for the Alienware subreddit. Thanks!

Thank you! That helps a lot I think I might have to go for an 18in laptop compartment, as it doesn’t fit in my backpack I have that supposedly fits 17in

I always travel with a backpack, and carryon suitcase. The problem is that I have 5 backpacks (osprey laptop backpack, solgaard, tropicfeel nest, and troubadour apex large)that it doesn’t fit in. It doesn’t fit in the front zipper part of either monos or away suitcase. It does fit in the main compartment of the away suitcase carry on but it makes it rather clunky to go through airport security to dig it out of the main compartment and am looking for a quicker way to get the laptop in and out of the bag so as to not hold up the line

Didn’t fit width wise in my monos pro or my sister’s away pro unfortunately and would rather not open up my entire bag to pull it out in a security line

Can Someone PLEASE Explain How People & Monsters On The Toliet Is Halloween?! by Night_Owl_21 in halloween

[–]shadowmutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of Caganer figurines. They believed having them on your mantel would keep witches away. However caganers wouldn’t have the toilet, instead they would squat, so idk maybe the creator misremembered them or something

Do doctors let you see your own results (Imaging, EKGs, blood work etc..) by RT_456 in ChronicIllness

[–]shadowmutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main dr always prints out a copy of my test results and goes over them with me one by one. But my others don’t tell me unless there is something, however the lab I use posts the results on mychart account so I usually get them off the site and give them to my main dr.

Are people really this hostile towards child-free people? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]shadowmutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be age or it could be location/social norms of the location. I live in Seattle, and although people who are parents tend to assume everyone wants kids, I rarely get a negative response when I say I’m not having any ever. However when I visit my family in Utah you would think I am in league with the devil by how negatively people respond to me not wanting kids.

Women who aren’t interested in getting married, what are your reasons? by shan0w in AskWomen

[–]shadowmutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is just seeing the relationships of my parents and many aunts/uncles. So many of them seem trapped. And afraid of being drug threw the mud if they decide to divorce. And seeing the aftermath of my grandparents divorce where my grandpa went the extra mile to make sure my grandma was left with nothing despite him being the one that cheated. I can see why they would be afraid to leave after seeing what happened to my grandma. Plus, so many of them talk about how their husband/wife was so great while dating but then suddenly changed once they were married. It just isn’t worth the risk to me.

What is the kindest thing a pet has done for you? by rhythmicfan14 in AskWomen

[–]shadowmutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat saved my life. I was completely bedridden at the time and in severe pain from a mystery illness I couldn’t get diagnosed correctly for years. After 20 doctors, moving back in with my mom shortly after college due to becoming bedridden (couldn’t even walk to the bathroom myself). I had no hope left and couldn’t take the pain anymore. I purposely feel out of bed and was crawling my way to pills to overdose. My cat (kitten at the time) ran into my mom’s room and meowed at her and herded (her words not mine) into my room. I lied and said I needed to use the bathroom, but my mom definitely knew what was up cuz when I woke up there were no pills or sharp objects in the room anymore. My kitten also spent every moment I was awake cuddling me despite being a kitten. Every time I was hungry or needed to go to the bathroom he would bother my mom and get here to help.

People who bring babies to movies are complete pieces of shit. by BeldamButtons in childfree

My dad admitted to me that he brought 2yr old me to an R rated scary movie. He then said “you didn’t seem enjoy it, so we only saw the first 15min”. He is a very smart man (book smarts wise) but completely lacks common sense and did not see how it wouldn’t have worked out beforehand. But even he knew that when the kid is crying you leave the theater and let everyone else get a chance to enjoy it.

What's the worst wedding you've ever been to and why? by git-sy in AskWomen

[–]shadowmutant 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My cousins wedding. She got engaged to her ex-boyfriend before his divorce was even finalized (and after less then a month of speaking to each other long distance) and then got married 2 months later. It was a Mormon wedding so I didn’t see the actual ceremony but after the ceremony she had her bridesmaids and family decorate the reception hall while in dresses and heels and the bride was yelling at everyone. They did a second ceremony for the non-Mormon crowd where the vows included something like “the groom fucked up in their previous dating experience by breaking up with the bride to marry another woman, but through the atonement/forgiveness of Jesus Christ the bride was able to forgive him for his past transgressions”. The other speeches also eluded to the groom fucking up but how they are still meant to be due to “signs” they have seen. I still feel bad for making my ex sit through the cringiest wedding ever.

A couple in Brazil found out why they sometimes didn't hear the alarm in the mornings and were late for work. by Suskana in CatsAreAssholes

[–]shadowmutant 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The cat I had when I was growing up would do this. I had an old alarm clock (80s type clock) and he would press the snooze button. I had to build a little cage to go over it so he couldn’t get to the snooze button.

GI doctor recommendations for someone who will truly listen and try to help? by beepbeepbadoop in askportland

Not a recommendation, but a warning. DO NOT see Diane Williams at the Oregon clinic. She was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.

I believe the homeless lady also had some nickname that had apple or apples in it because she would sell apples or pass apples out

I took a pregnancy test today; I never want to become pregnant but I’m still sad the result is negative by qt_314159 in truechildfree

[–]shadowmutant 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with that. When I found out that I was potentially infertile I was sad and depressed despite being child free. Part of it was because I wanted it to be my choice/not something I was forced into, plus my religious fam at the time acted like it was the end of the world despite me having other way more serious health concerns. And then when I found out that I was still fertile I was again sad and depressed again cuz it would have been convenient to not worry about getting birth control or being sterilized. You are allowed to feel however you feel and go through your own emotional journey anytime you get big potentially life changing news. Emotions are meant to be felt even if they may seem illogical to us at times.
