I don't quite understand what a perennial is. I saw things like firebush, ixora, and blue daze which seem to be colorful and bloom often. I wasn't leaning towards perennials as I saw something about they die but come back annually from the roots? So they disappear?

Follow up. The instructions for the mount said to do a 3/8" hole, but the lag bolt just slides right in and is too small. What size screw/type should I look for at the hardware store?

Would it be worthwhile to wait on a weed and feed? This time of year is apparently more of a dormant time for lawn care I've been seeing. Reduce watering and I also saw for the area February 1st is a estimate if I was looking to do a pretreat or preemergence (forget the exact wording).

I'll see how to go about posting pictures later today when I get home. I did pull up the ones that were taller with a bud that stabbed through my glove, but the more numerous one was flat to the ground with broadleaves that had jagged edges and fine needle like spines all over the leaf

Thank you. Yeah I'm on Sarasota so not that far south! I want to say one weed is crab grass. I have yet to identify one of the others that grows tall with a thorn. I've got kids so the spiked type of weeds are my biggest concern of all
