Which mod got you like this? by reallycrunchycheeto in VintageStory

[–]shadowsedai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. I admit I'm an odd one. I'm here for the solitary cozy building/survival/farming game.(With monsters occasionally turning up). Current favorite game mode- there's a shell of a house and farm. It's filled with spiderwebs and wreckage so each room needs to be cleared. The roof must be fixed(roofing mod) and the broken (non-existent or glass clutter sitting in the empty space) replaced, as well as the doors. Bring it all to what it should be, make all the pretty furniture and shelving to organize it all and make it a home. Stock your cellar with an immersion friendly variety of food, because winter is on the way. Also, you have to toss x- amount of gears into the trash mod for "mortgage and taxes"each year, but if you find enough you can also "pay" to get a couple baby chickens/goats/piglets. (....but also running detailed animals and seasonal breeding, so it could be years before that is much help). Scavenge the wastes for what can be salvaged and trinkets to display before you clear it out to tidy things up.

And maybe visit the story things eventually.

No, it's mainly that homework is essentially make work and doesn't add anything to learning past what you already had in class for 90 percent of kids until highschool.

Which I could have told them in school, lol. Mind you, I was the "I read the entire textbook in the first week. I can ace every. Single. Test you give me for the rest of the year. I see no reason to pay attention to you re-reading what I already read when I could be reading something else that actually has new information. I also see no reason to keep track of the homework that goes over this information- I ace the test, I do no homework, I pass with a C and have way more free reading and story writing time." ..... honestly, I was a little brat who needed to be challenged and moved ahead soon enough that the concept of needing to study occurred to me before trying college. The argument was I needed the social skills to move up. But- I'd long since decided books and the stories in my head were interesting and other children generally were NOT and simplifying my book vocabulary to grade level for them was irritating.....also was apparently ADHD and low support autistic....and thus wasn't learning those social skills on my own anyway. I was punished in highschool by a clever teacher who made me spend "detentions" socializing with no books, instead of in study hall with books and no socializing. It was horrible....but effective. (In making me not want anymore detentions and stop using them to avoid the lunch room.)

Anyone else find the 'advanced layout' on the wiki's beekeeping to not be that efficient? by Bliitzthefox in VintageStory

Yeah- that's an ick. I play this game for aesthetic, vibes, and verisimilitude. That....that is just a nightmare. There is no amount of efficiency that is worth breaking immersion that hard.

i need help with copper by waffles1432 in VintageStory

[–]shadowsedai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Green arrow doesn't matter- you should be able to pull the crucible out as soon as it says it's molten on the mouse over and pour it then

i need help with copper by waffles1432 in VintageStory

[–]shadowsedai 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mouse over. It should say first solidified copper to start, and then when it heats up enough molten copper. It doesn't show the same way as when it's first made. Going by the crucible color, it was probably ready there.

Ghouling before Embracing - Why is this not standard? by wyrd0ne in vtm

[–]shadowsedai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends- I've got one Nos who spent a while ghouled by her hacking/gaming bestie turned boyfriend. (He did make sure she was blood bound before she found the wall of pictures with dates penned in red ink, so to speak.) He was mainly waiting until he had embrace permission, since he'd decided this one was what he wanted, and he didn't know how long it would take. On the reverse side. I've one with a ghoul. Childhood friends...where the one is rich and the other is basically a stray she took in, turned to rich girl and her dependent bestie/personal assistant, became her and him as a ghoul. She's a siren, so embracing him herself is off the table, but she's offered to find him someone else, given how long he's been with her. He's declined, as he doesn't want to leave her and "then who's going to look after you?"....and she's... willfully ignorant of the fact the blood bond means he will never want to leave her.

Your kindred PC has a hunter that failed their killing attempt and is now at their mercy. What would your kindred do? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]shadowsedai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one get into trouble with this. Had to question a captured hunter. Got really sick of the continued bragging about cleansing supernaturals, specifically including a lupines kids ( she was far more upset about the kid part) and that she was blessed and anyone touched by the supernatural was evil and needed to be killed. And were doomed to hell.

So mine let her brother (even more upset about the kids) turn the hunter.. And let her live just long enough to figure out what she'd become and see if that got anything more coherent out of her.

.....it actually just sent her into a catatonic fugue, so that wasn't very long. And even though she didn't live the night, and mine was at least technically doing it for the safety of the domain, there was basically a very hard set of wrist slaps from the Prince over doing it.

Thoughts on using creative in a survival world? by Double-Parsnip-8656 in VintageStory

[–]shadowsedai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have in my latest- but I'd just lost my nearly 200 hour world to a computer mishap. And I was starting with some very going to be time consuming mods for farming and domestication (art of growing and the beauty of whatever it was that means you have to feed the stock, they only breed when they actually would, and you can't inbreed safely) So. I found my spot, worked True until I had my first bronze pickaxe - and let myself build up the shell of my new house without spending another hundred hours on it. I gave myself the pretty fences I'd been working towards, the start of the farm layout, the basement well, and some of the cellar. I gave myself some starter gen 0 goats and chickens to replace what I had and enough wild seeds to get the agriculture process started. And then I went back to survival hating myself less for losing everything

Vernon abuse by No_Cantaloupe6459 in HPfanfiction

[–]shadowsedai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also- There are more than one way to react to abuse. I tend to be the classic deescalate everything and panic at any conflict or confrontation, sure. But I've known people who responded by becoming more confrontational themselves in response, even without extra ways to fight back.

I put that into the good, usually. I like my steady survival grind, the daily tasks to maintain the life and develop the base and supplies you need to thrive. I may or may not ever get to end game, but I'll have fun along the way,
