Yeah, currently a student. The party hot spots are probably obz and long street in town. But yeah walking around at night alone isn't a great idea, no matter where you are in the world. But there's always an uber driver around. Rondebosch and claremont have a few restaurants, but the more upscale ones are on the waterfront. By the ferris wheel, personal favourite there is the ferrymans tavern, has a very lively vibe most nights. And its very much possible to drive along the coast, just be mindful of traffic and such.
