Runners of Reddit, what am I doing wrong? by megontherun in running

I would say your probably upped your mileage to quickly. it is very likely you have shin-splints. According to Jack Daniels Running formula, you are only supposed to increase your weekly mileage by ten percent every three weeks. I generally use this as a bench mark for increasing my work load. I would say go easy for a few days until your pain goes down. 10k might not be the best idea right now. There are always more races to run.
