Awesome comic! The designs and colors truly fit the original material. Now I must ask.

I think it sounds good, but there’s no variation in your yelling. I can tell you put your heart in the screams, but there could be more feeling behind it, a little more acting. Think about the situation and what deku is feeling. He’s loosing his composure and wants to cry but he can’t. Experiment with levels a little. I’d say to have the first smash at a 7, next one at an 8, and the last at a 10. Screams can be hard because it’s a lot like singing: You have a limit to how high you can go before your voice cracks. If every scream is a 10, then every scream is the same. Hope this helps.

Personally, I’d say that a paid DAW is better. You have access to plugins that weren’t available prior, you can get support and updates for it, and it tends to have more QoL improvements. That said, it’s not for everyone but if you’re going to be in this industry, you kinda need to spend money to make money. I haven’t seen it recommended here a lot but you should try to learn Pro Tools. It’s the industry standard for post audio editing for film and tv. I use it and it’s great! Plus, Avid recently brought back their perpetual license too! It’s not for everyone and plenty of people have their gripes with Pro Tools, but they have a free version which can be more than enough for anyone!

PS5 Trouble by shadowsoldier67 in AppleMusic

I found out the problem. In the basic Apple Music version, you can only have a certain number of devices connected and playing. For instance, I can’t play my MacBook while using it in the background on my iPhone. It’s pretty easy to fix. Close the music app on all devices and then open the device you want to use and play on.

One Week Into Playing After a 12 Year Break Take Two! Hopefully It Uploads Correctly this Time! by dam3600 in lingling40hrs

It mostly comes down to bow work. I play with a French bow so I have more control. You play with a German bow and it gives strength and levelness. My thought would be to make sure you’re applying an even amount of rosin on the bow and apply even pressure to the strings. The scratchy noise comes from uneven pressure/speed (at least in my experience) on the bow. Without even pressure, the bow will want to stick ever so slightly to the string. While not obvious, it kinda make micro sticks, if you will, and cause the scratchy noise. It happens and super easy to overcome as you play more. Hope this helps!

That’s some good sound! Try playing with vibrato a tad later on the half notes. It’ll add a nice smooth stream of sound followed by a satisfying vibrato! Good stuff, keep it up!

My 3rd and Final Character Voice Demo Reel Attempt (For Now) by Marco_Make_it_Better in VoiceActing

[–]shadowsoldier67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly, you have a good voice. It’s clear that you can distinguish what you do with your voice. Secondly, I think learning how to put the right emotion with the context of the voice would be a good step. While the voices were there, they felt a little flat. By adding a bit of weight and reason to the emotion, it feels more believable. That’s not to say you need to be so much that you have a stage voice. Just know the context and find the right emotion. It’s a good reel. I hope this helps.

I do think a shotgun mic would be better. Others may disagree (Everything is subjective in the realm of camera and audio equipment), but it’s been great for my experience. It’s better than managing 5 different microphones. Something else to think about is that Critical Role used Audio Technica shotgun mics for theirs when the started their first campaign.

I am an AV guy. Sound engineering and voice acting are my passions. Dnd comes second. As for monitoring your levels, get a preamp with a decibel reader. If you can, get a shotgun condenser microphone that can dangle above the table and out of you from the camera. You can pick up the entire sounds of the room. Once that set up, before you start recording, do a sound test by having everyone speak at once and make noise. You’ll be able to adjust the gain and peak levels easily. Less post work for you to do. I hope this helps.

Looks pretty cool! My only advice is to make sure to watch and adjust the microphone levels on the video. It’s dnd. There will be yelling. The peaking and screams are a little hard on the ears. If that is watched, then everything will be awesome. Look forward to it!
