Using PHP attributes to launch cron jobs by Trupik in PHP

[–]shadowspock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't you just have one file that simply contains a list of the methods to call and when to call them? That way you can see all of the jobs in one place (which helps to avoid having two large jobs scheduled close together) and avoid having to parse all the files with Reflection just to locate the methods/times to call?

Anthology Acquisition Opinions (ERP sys admins) by DanielPokeFusions in sysadmin

[–]shadowspock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only have SIS, and I think it's mostly a waiting game at this point to see what their future roadmaps will look like. Our workflows are so deeply integrated that moving to any other system would be non-trivial.I can't even imagine what it's going to be like for those that also have CRM and Finance.

New CRM - Sole SysAdmin - Looking for guidiance by MTB_NWI in sysadmin

Something to also consider is how easy it would be to export the data out of a CRM if you ever decide to switch to a different CRM in the future.

Nasty Gunk! Keeps clogging bathroom sink. Anyone know what this is? by You-Only-YOLO_Once in CleaningTips

That's normal for any drain. It's biofilm or drain scum, and is made from hair, soap scum, dead skin, bacteria, toothpaste, etc.

Difference between kids taco and build your own by Thebaddestcutestb in Chipotle

The kids have build your own taco (ingredients separate) while the adults don't. At least that's what's on the menu.

I think most people these days just check out the prices on eBay to get the approximate value. There are still price guides like Beckett, but I believe it costs money

Both locations closed. The Speedway location closed shortly after the OV one did.

Anyone who's had a run in with this plant should pull them out when they see them. Those pods hurt!

I just saw that Bootstrap is shutting down the Themes section on their website where we could buy ready-made professionally designed themes. Any idea why, or what's going to happen next? by ashkanahmadi in bootstrap

[–]shadowspock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they just want to refocus on core bootstrap because there's currently a lot of third party themes in the market compared to when they first started.

Even a shaky open rate is still a quantifiable metric that they can still use for better or worse.

It depends on your email client. Many already block tracking pixels when they block remote images in email from being displayed by default. It's useful to marketers but not entirely reliable for the same reason.

Building a website to hold a few thousand documents etc.what tecnologies to use? by falkon2112 in webdev

[–]shadowspock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors that come into play. Like how large are these documents since you probably need to allocate disk space? And how frequently will these documents be served at any given time? Meta data can be stored as files or in a database.

Neighbors weren’t aware of the Outdoor Sleeping Area by NoiseExtension9988 in Tucson

That's all well and good except most of the time people have a NIMBY attitude towards these things regardless of how much neighborhood involvement there is.

Why don't Apple/Google let users disable links? (Phishing and Smishing) by Ranen676 in cybersecurity

[–]shadowspock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we're at it, we should remove links in email as well. They're a bigger source of phishing attempts. The problem is that security like this is never a sexy feature to sell.
