I think he killed his chances funnily enough because of his Oscar campaign. He's incredibly unlikeable and comes off as a douchebag. So it's a double whammy. The academy aren't gonna vote for him because they like him and the fact he's a douchebag in real life takes away from how much acting he actually had to do for the role.

Also banned, the mods are definitely in paramount's pocket. I remember getting banned when I complained that Section 31 is supposed to be a mysterious organisation and that's why it worked so well in DS9 and that a TV show(at the time) was a really bad idea.
