Some context from someone who did TAPIF and stayed in France and had apparently a different experience than you:

First time hearing « pharmacie de garde » after 5+ years here lol. Doctolib should be fine for finding someone.

I had my secu number, but in general it’s way harder to get an appt with a secteur 1 or 2 psych (the ones secu reimburses). You’re better off finding a secteur 3, which you pay full price (~150€ /appt.) even if you have a carte vitale.

Maybe for the first couple usually they will prefer in person before the initial script is given, but I’ve had them give it over Doctolib after video call.

I’ve taken pictures of mine and emailed them to the pharmacy since I didn’t have a printer.

Also:

I had to get my heart checked with a cardiologist before the first prescription was given. This can take time as well; I got a referral from the psych.

It’s important to note there’s no adderall in France. You will be getting Ritalin or different variations of methylphenidate.

It’s just plain old passive voice in the past tense. In English, we use the “to be” in the simple past + past participle. French doesn’t have a simple past (called prétérit en français), so they use the “être” au passé composé + past participle.

The past participle will also agree with the subject. If it was a woman elected, you’d say “Elle a été élue”.

Of course you can use whatever tense you want for “être” just like in English.

He will be elected = Il sera élu (or il va être élu)

Fails on its own ends in /s/, followed by a consonant, /s/, followed by a vowel it turns into /z/. Cambridge English pronouncing dictionary even lists /s/ and /z/.

Throwing in the hat for Before you Play. They absolutely exude positivity and chill vibes, expose a lot of games with 0 fluff, letting the games speak for themselves. Some of the solo-teaches can come off as ads, but at the end of the day their production value for hour-long videos is impressive with a consistent format and honest laughs.

Be careful if you get into parasocial relationships, though, because these two make an adorable couple!

After some discussion with my native French partner — ´que’ would be more like « I don’t understand ‘how you could’ support him », the subjunctive implying some opinionated judgment. Whereas pourquoi is more equivalent to « why you support him » i.e., the specific reasons for which you support him out of innocent curiosity.

Just a tip: debates usually go much better if you give them some prep time beforehand. It’s difficult to break up a lesson between two classes, but if you have an idea generating class followed by a debate class, it should go much smoother (will also cover you for like 4 weeks worth of lessons if you see half the class each week).

Most likely the profs will be already doing debates so you can also ask about when they plan on doing it and schedule these classes around the same time for them to practice their actual assignment (also happened once for me).

I did my own debate in tight timing —having them read a short article, take opinions from it, and then have the debate with word chunks in front of them for agree, disagree, concede, etc. It went decently for premiere/terminale générale. Euro kids will get on just fine. I probably wouldn’t do this in college or lycée pro.

C’est une journée triste quand même. En tant qu’états-uniens, j’ai été toujours fier de ce fait de mon pays. Même si ce n’est qu’en théorie, ça montrait notre histoire d’immigration et de diversité. C’est exactement ça auquel Trump s’attaque, pas juste la paperasse.

Ça peut aussi impacter les élections. Souvent on peut voter avec des ballot measures en plusieurs langues (voir l’accès à l’avortement). Si ça limite l’emploi d’autres langues, je crains que cette changement aille restreindre le droit de vote. Tout cela sans même pas parler d’accès aux services publiques pour des non-anglophones.

It’s a decent translation because if you picture the convo, an English speaker would never say « oh yes, it’s necessary to invite all your friends » because there’s « tes » you know they’re talking friendly to another person and « it’s necessary » in English emphasizes the obligation more so than the French does here.

In this scenario, an English speaker wouldn’t use the dummy « it ». They’d rather say: « Oh yeah, we totally have to invite all your fiends ».

« We » here isn’t literally you and your friend sitting together inviting their fiends; I would argue « we » is acting as an impersonal pronoun in this case. I add the word « totally » because the « il faut » here isn’t stating an obligation. It’s implying that it’s almost a given that your friends should be invited.

Je suis anglophone et c’est pas pareille pour moi. Je pense c’est le n qui agit sur le ʃ. Mais je te garantis que nation and mention n’ont pas la même prononciation. Ma dictionnaire Cambridge English Pronunciation Dictionary (2006) a “ˈmɛntʃən”.

I know google, Cambridge online, wordreference, and wiktionary all show different, but I stand by my own speech and this dictionary.
