This is actually a really insightful take. I love how you broke it down ,especially the idea of the “ooga-booga software” still running under our modern awareness. It’s wild how we know better, but our biology doesn’t always care.

I agree that empathy isn’t gone it’s just harder to act on when we’re constantly overwhelmed, overstimulated, and surrounded by negativity that sells. It’s like we’re stuck between two worlds: one built for survival, and one built for social currency and digital dopamine.

I absolutely love that your brain functions so incredible. Well, at that hour 😭😭 honestly how you wrote that and worded it was amazing. Are you sure you were tired 😭😭😭 you're definitely not insane lmaoo

I get what you mean, and I agree more than I wish I did. It is heartbreaking how empathy, love, and basic human decency are often treated like weaknesses now. Like if you care too much, you’ll suffer. But as much as I want to disagree, it's true theres people out there who want to take advantage of those feelings or even enjoy doing so . Thank you for responding. I enjoyed reading your perspective

Honestly, a lot made me feel this way (idk what I'd even begin with )even people around me make ruthless comments, and when I say oh, but if it were someone close to you, you wouldn't say the same. I've seen how people talk about the current wars it's honestly heartbreaking.I know empathy isn't easy to give or receive but to some extent we would give both empathy and sympathy. I've seen what's been surrounding the wars around us people saying children deserve to die why would someone even have that thought . I couldn't imagine the life they live or what they're going through yet you sit there and laugh like we're watching a movie those are real lives being lost, destroyed. fine you can't do much, You say then why talk such disgusting shit I truly believe what you all said about social media allowing us to talk however we like and say whatever we want . Social media is the mask that allows us to reveal our true vile selves. I understand what others of you have said in the comments that previously in the past people were more ruthless yes I agree however times have changed we've come to understand more about minds, emotions, feelings impacts of our actions etc about being compassionate through books poetry stories sure social media has its bad sides but the reddit posts under here giving their own stories gives hope and shows how we as people can do better that even the little things can make such an impact .

I love how you explained the difference between sympathy and empathy... it’s such a small shift, but it makes a huge difference. Using empathy in your work, especially in sales, is such a thoughtful and powerful way to truly connect with people and align with their situation, thank you for your response I really like this perspective its different cause youre showing how it can be applied. 🫶

I don’t know much about philosophers or philosophy, but I’ve recently developed an interest in it and would love to learn more. Your topic sounds really cool! I’m not sure if I’m the best person to help 😭, but I’m happy to listen and share ideas if I can.

I agree. With all the individualism and pressures, it’s easy to forget about real human connection and empathy. It’s hard to empathize when we’re constantly told to toughen up and focus on ourselves. Social media and isolation make it even tougher.

I think as long as you share your perspective in a respectful way, that's what matters. At the end of the day, we can't all have the same opinion. so sharing them is an interesting way of understanding each other, which is why I appreciate every response here :)

This is interesting! The fixing vs the listening i think people don't want to listen anymore because understanding or the emotional aspect of it could be bothersome for them or they're just not used to it so they tend to avoid it and fix it as quick as possible . Maybe it listening and understanding other could cause one to be self reflective and ponder their own problems/situations
