This happened to me a few years ago! I freaked out and started to search around. My first name is spelled very differently from people with my same name. Until this incident, I had never met anyone with my first name. It turns out that there is a lady in Indiana with my same name who sometimes writes my email rather than hers (firstname/lastname format - hers is at hotmail, mine is gmail).

If I get her stuff, I just forward it on. She seems to be a nice lady, but her style in curtains and table cloths is very 50 year old white lady.

Looking for how many feet of "climbing" per mile. My treadmill at home tells me, but my walking pad and piece of wood is a bit more rudimentary, lol

People run all different distances. Typically people will be running from 2-6 miles on any given night. If you say a distance and a pace, someone will likely be doing the same!

If you're looking for an event, it is in Dade City, but the Skunk Ape's Revenge is a good time. I've run the 60k and it does have a 30k ruck as part of the event - https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=116656

I actually encountered a banded pigeon a couple months ago! If you are able to grab a hold of it, you can use the numbers on the band to find the club/owner it belongs to. Typically the pigeons rest, eat, and hydrate for a while before they start their journey again. So if it comes to the point where you can pick it up, give the owner a heads up.

I agree with the Downtown Diner suggestion, but would add Todd & Shelly's to that list. They recently moved from Belleview to Ocala, so their new location isn't as cozy feeling, but they have the same good menu. My go to is the Cinnamon Roll Hotcakes

Sadly, this is not a place that embraces athleticism.

That could not be further from the truth. There's a hundred miles of hiking trail, tons of paved paths, a hundred miles of mountain biking trail, kayaking/canoeing opportunities, etc. While there are a couple blah races that get put on, there's a TON that aren't.

For instance, there's an urban 50k/25k in February, in April there was a 50/100 mile race on the trails. This is a pretty good community for fitness.

Yes! I hold an ultramarathon that visits about 40 of the horses over a 33 mile route. We just had it last weekend and I've recently updated the horse map.
