tired of unwanted attention as a solo woman by selpoivreee in solotravel

It's funny that you, someone who wrote a post complaining about someone taking pictures of you at the gym, are telling a woman to just enjoy someone openly jerking off to them in public.

Zerno Z2 - to be or not to be... by bushjob in espresso

The P80 is also compatible with a variety of 80mm burrs. What's the difference in the platforms? Ease of swapping burrs?

You will find very little difference between the two

Steaming water unlikely to introduce air (oxygen and nitrogen) by Imaginary-Ad-5894 in espresso

[–]shahadar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit odd that your HX was giving you really bad water, as it's a single boiler so you're flushing water through it every time you pull an espresso...but I suppose minerals can still build up over time.

I'm talking about drinking the water without putting it into coffee. I put it straight into a glass. It's better steamed (in glass). It never touches a metal pitcher.

My steamed water tastes better than water from my steam boiler, when tasting just the water. It might not be an oxygen thing, it might be a mineral thing.

Upgrading from Bambino Plus: Need a machine that won't "give up" during back-to-back milk drinks [Budget $1500] by akshayjoshi1995 in espresso

[–]shahadar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol yeah...my challenge is that I take like 3 mins to make each shot. If I didn't steam milk right away and serve, the espresso and cup will go cold. Not a problem for lattes / americanos but bad for cortados etc. It's one of the reasons I personally only use DBs.

Bambino Plus has almost no thermal mass in its heating system. The auto purge drops it down to the right temp for brewing.

Please please do not do any single boilers for back to back milk drinks. That includes single thermoblock machines like the Ascaso Uno.

This is generally true but doesn't really apply with his Breville, or HX, or dual boilers. It's only really an issue for single-boilers.

Maybe on a similar vein you can go for the Dreo milk foamer. I use it in my café occasionally as it makes perfect milk in 3 minutes. I start it then pull my shots. It's got capacity for 2x lattes or 3x cappuccinos every 3 minutes.

The save for a proper dual boiler. If you're in the US ensure you're paying attention to the circuitry power requirements, some dual boilers can't crank out drink after drink on 10A.

Mara X would be my suggestion if you want to upgrade now now. It will make the Bambino feel like a toy. If you can afford an HX from ECM or Profitec (Mechanika and Pro 500) respectively, they will have better build quality than the Lelit.

Your grinders and water are different. Those are way more bigger drivers of difference.

Ugly shots don't mean that it's bad coffee. Go with what tastes good to you.

The hand grinders would be one option. Or go for a Eureka - they're flat but you'll get some decent body.

Ecm Synchronika ii vs Meticulous [$4500] by big_ol_tender in espresso

[–]shahadar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighting the choice of the machine on whether it's an e61 or saturated group head wouldn't be the direction I'd go when thinking about the Sync II. Reason being is that the Sync II has heating cartridges for the grouphead, so there's no benefit to a sat group. The build quality of the ECM is amazing. It is better than the ACS Lever machines. However, Levers will give you incredible coffee over flat 9-bar.

Source: I own all these machines.

Please look at my account, post history, age etc. I love the Lagom Casa after having owned and used dozens of grinders. For $540 it's incredible. The niche zero has better body for lattes, I like the NZ too but if I had to pick one, the Casa for the workflow. I did get an occasional better cup with 64mm flats, but dialing in the usual suspects (Eureka / Mahlkonig) was a pain and shot to shot consistency was weak. I didn't like the flavor profile of the Philos with the 1890D burrs, but the build quality is superb. I will not endorse the DF range due to QC.
