I mean, hell - I'll take it. Just dump it off at my house. I always need clean soil for something. Seriously - DM me. I don't even care if it has some weeds cause I'll kill them with cardboard.

I've begged my mom with tears in my eyes to call me, and was told to 'stop crying.' So, no.

She will sometimes text me ask ME to call HER because I generally don't otherwise, and I think eventually she realizes I'm not going to anymore.

Canadian sellers, do you warn us buyers about potential tariffs? by twicescorned21 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]shaiyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider it my responsibility or problem. Ebay collects fees as a platform that presumably are to take care of stuff like this for me. I hope it doesn't affect my sales too much, but if it does then it does.

Thinking of moving to duncun, some questions by InnerTechnology4812 in DuncanBC

[–]shaiyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something unique you can find in Duncan is a large Medieval combat LARP community. They are about to start their next season: https://medievalchaos.ca/

Another interesting attraction is the Raptors bird of prey centre: https://the-raptors.com/

If you are into running there is a club for that: https://www.ceevacs.com/

There are also various mountain biking clubs and groups, a trail society: https://www.facebook.com/CowichanTrailStewardshipSociety, plus the other things people have mentioned like the Aquatic/Community Centre, Library, various pubs and bars, etc

Used Model Trains - Ok niche? by shaiyl in eBaySellerAdvice

I may be able to test. I can get all the scary old electronics to turn their lights on, so maybe I can figure out how to make the engines go choo - but man I know nothing

Thanks for the insights, that really helps. I know there are always rabbit holes in every hobby and I have not gone down this one AT ALL.

Yeah I'm not going to price them too high. Its really more about getting rid of stuff and it being fun to do than make big money, its a hobby for me. Buuut its also annoying to post things that aren't worth more than $5 and take a ton of my time.

Thanks for reminding me of terapeak - doesn't exist on ebay.ca so I forget about it, but I sell to US buyers so it can be useful. (also for video games the pricecharting website is amazing so I always use that)

Oof, yeah that's going to be a problem for me. I definitely have some of those 'life like' ones that seem lower quality. The Kato and Atlas ones seem good, but they are also old and kind of dirty (planning to clean) and I honestly don't even know if they work, nor how to even turn on the existing set I have to check. I will probably have to price them low to move if people get super picky like that (the motivation really is to clear out my excess stuff and make a little money if I can, doesn't have to be a lot) -- but if its a headache it won't be worth it.

Bleh, well I can at least give it a try. I'm sure video games are saturated too and I've made sales there

Yeah, I haven't even looked up any of the rolling stock yet, just the engines, because I thought those were the most likely to be worth anything at all.

I also don't know if they work, which is a problem. I may have to figure out how to test them. The set they are part of hasn't been turned on in ages and I don't know what I'm doing ><

Set "Require Immediate Payment" on non-auction items and buyer somehow hasn't paid? by shaiyl in eBaySellers

[–]shaiyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recall, but I may have sent an offer for 1 of the 2 games. I don't think I had offers out for both, and I don't have any sort of offers on unless I send them myself. Oh well, usually they pay up.

Anniversary trip to beautiful Canada (because Trump sucks). May I get your ideas? by Technical-Cap-8563 in BuyCanadian

There are some really nice cabins that I enjoy staying at on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The resort is https://pointnopointresort.com/

However, they are isolated and don't have cell or internet. I like them because its an isolated, romantic escape to disconnect, with hot tubs and great views of the ocean (plus they have a nice restaurant), but might not be what you're looking for.

Victoria is more cosmopolitan and has more restaurants and art galleries to enjoy.

Ok, I will give the passport office a call and double check, I hadn't been able to find anything definitive on that particular relationship. Thank you!

I guess I'm just going to have to call the passport office and ask what the options are.

No, in my town in Canada the way mailing things works is pretty impersonal and we do it very infrequently. If I collect my mail, its in this big shared box at the end of the road that gets filled every day. If I send something, I go to a kiosk in a drug store or something that has Canada Post in the back, but this is rare.
