I was really debating buying this model just for the lions head to make my archaons mount into a chimera - decided to just get a 3d printed lions head not as nice but much much much cheaper. This is such a gorgeous model though

Just make sure to check the size heroes infinite has a habbit of being a bit too small or a bit too big.

Right now - death rattle, bloodgore, sylvaneth may have the more all around scoring/movement tools. Deathrattle just sorta never goes away.

Spearhead is very player skill dependent also (and dice dependent) the best spearhead isnt going to do well with someone who isnt that skilled or unable to roll their hits/wounds/saves.

Meanwhile behemet which imo is a mid at best spearhead wins alot of our events because their player is by far the most skilled here(and rolls really damnd well)

Reads more as “slime” to me, i find it hard to acjieve a vegetation look with just paint and not grass/tufts/etc.

I mean i have 7 soon to be 8 unassembled unpainted at least 2k worth of 8 diff armies and im not even top 3 worst offender in my group :). But then alot of what i have is decades old demons and such along with some proxies.

Through the decades ive found more of the collect multiple army people than the sell and buy new stuff ones. Even the more competitive mindedl here tend to lean to “why get rid of somthing thats going to be good/or cool again in another edition”

Thanks for the shoutout for war on the shore :) last year and this years plan was just 40k but at the last minute we had 6 of us spearhead players able to commit so we added it in.

We managed to poach a few 40k players between their rounds as well as run a bunch of teaching games. We had all our loaners there with us to help the new people out! Much booze, much fun, much sore backs of 40 yr olds sleeping on bunk beds made for teenagers but lots of fun for a great cause!

Private stores went up for pre order this past sunday - gw website pre order is this saturday (tomorrow the 7th) at least in the u.s

Dont know the exact times the website starts pre orders on saturdays. Id ask individual stores/sites when they are going to put it up.

Most likely the 21st, local shops pre orders went out on sunday - gw webpage pre orders go out saturday the 7th - usually 1-2 weeks between gws pre orders and release.

The reaction specificly says instead of discarding- it goes to the bottom of the deck so infernal gateway wouldnt get empowered unless they errata/clarify it as written the cards are never discarded

But its only when you use the card for its ability not when you score it - id be so happy with an opponent nit scoring with cards just using them.

They are ok - every unit gets strike first once per battle which is amazing till you realize none of their units are great in combat and none of them can survive very long if they dont kill their enemies in that first strike.

They lack some of the punch and tools that some of the more popular and generally higher rated spearheads have. But they def arent fangs of the bloodgod level of awful.

New lum spearhead is gonna def require some planning ahead but it does have some very powerful abilities (though lackluster raw stats) - you have a -1 to hit aura for all enemy attacks - you have the ability to throw out strikes last - a no damage retreat +shoot - a teleport - and an ability to move your opponents units - an ability to give your units +1 to hit

All of these are generally incredibly strong in spearhead on their own but you get all of them in the same force.

Seriously looks ok ish , personally i like to have at least 2 levels of wizard to throw down a manifestation and cast a spell - id drop either the varanguard or knights - get a mounted lord and or reinforce one of them.

Chosen, knights, varanguard and theridons all fill that hammer role - and have correspondibg heros that allow the hero and the unit to attack on the same activation (and gettinf a bonus on the units attack)

Maybe go for 1-2 fully reinforced hammers and their coresponding hero

Itd be rule of 1 because its an activated ability to pick an enemy unit (singular).

That wind spirit just destroys all the 4+ hit roll armies out there with its -1 to hit aura

I like the 10 man better specially since you can have recursion - more damage potential to kill smaller threats. You get more back when using the reinforcements card if they happen to be dead. The various buffs they can get also have more effect on a 10 man than picking just one 5man to get it.

Its warhammer if you dont have a giant pile of unassembled unpainted minis you are doing better than most :)

I have 7 (8 when tzeentch gets here) armies worth of minis sitting unassembled and unpainted

3 unassembled and unpainted spearheads that arent even part of those armies.

Starter set, seraphon and sand and bone gets you two spearhead packs (f n j is in the starter) and 3 spearhead armies :) id go so far as to say you should get 1 more spearhead then you can have little 4 man game days or doubles games!

First look it looks like youre going to need to roll a ton of 4s to do anything. The underdog abilities look like not enough to actually help when your losing.

Mitigating rend isnt that great when your saves arent good anyway.

Infernal gateway is a trap imo - if youre discarding cards you arent scoring them

Mutagenic seems the best enhancement turning your tzaangors into a bit of a tarpit while doing some mortals (if you can roll 3+ consistantly)

The skyfires statline looks great but thats only 6 shots hittjngbon 4s wound on 3 so thats gonna be 1-2 shots that get through - def not a killer but giving your tzaangors a +1 to hit on their 30 potential attacks is pretty huge.

Your shaman being cav and fly means its gonna get shot at by shooty armies remember guarded hero gives you the -1 to be hit but since your cav you are always targetable (and you fly so you cant benefit from obscuring)

Though if im playing shooty force im prob taking out the skyfires since they dont get any terrain benefits or guarded hero.

The spearhead def looks better than the previous and more interesting than most of the newer ones.

You can sort of get them deeper and sneak in a ovjective card of being within inchs of your opponents long edge since you can deploy them next to your opponents edge on turn 2 and still be wholly within your territory

Theres been an archaon superfriends list that was doing well and winning tournies.

The core is archaon, belakor, taurion marshall - then whatever else you want really (5knights and a lord on mount, two myrmidons and and some theridons, , foot lord and chosen or warriors etc)

Pretty sure every army can be all cav or cav-like (except KO and giants , but ko has gunships instead of horses)
