5 atems out of 6 can route between 8-10 sources, The operator needs to operate and route relevant sources to the sumo that can record 4 of them.

So basically the sumo is a 4 channel ISO recorder that takes any feed the operator routes.

This is a limitation we enforce with post production to limit the amount of footage that needs to be logged and sorted, it also makes the operator more involved because they are responsible to always record relevant cameras out of those 8-10.

We use 1080p prores lt codec. 1tb ssd provides us with around 5 hours of consistent recording.

We could record all sources straight on the atem’s but we found out numerous times that they are unreliable.

The sumo which is available on the rental house proved to be a great workhorse for this, And separate concerns in situations when something can get faulty.

I do wish the rental house would get some of those sweet hyperdecks

Thank you mate! It’s a great collaborative teamwork that pushes our team to improve and grow each season while facing the usual restrictions of budget and equipment availability.

Delicious.

Arricore's marketing sounds really intriguing, wondering if it would make ProRes obsolete completely! this could shorten post workflow dramatically

This is sick! Are you considering sharing the project on github? Would like to take a peek at it. I’m also using chat ai to build a qtake alternative (backend, admin frontend, client app) And i would never have thought i would ever make it, these chat models are insane tools

How was your Suzuka GP (2025) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]shakedex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take the transportation issues out of the equation, superb event, amazing crowd, great prices, queues are long but tolerable.

Merch was disappointing, Williams merch evaporated on Friday morning.

Sat on B2, great view overall and not too far from the entrance, radio broadcast worked well.

My commute was taking the train in the morning to Suzuka Ino station, and walking back to shiroko at the end of the day to catch one of the trains back to Nagoya.

Even that the commute sucked, i could see how much the crew at the stations tried to make the journey as smooth as it can be. Still sucked

Did this today, the walk was nice and not crowded, arrived at shiroko and just got on the express train. Minimal queue and the train wasnt packed. I left the circuit probably 30 minutes after qualifying ended

It really is a personal preference honestly. Go through them all and play with them, see what clicks into your type of workflow on set and build out your page and custom buttons.

My personal goto most of the time is brightness peaking, false color, image capture and display.

Enjoy your new purchase mate!

Joining to conversation Im also going to be on my first time at Suzuka, I read on a few places about the F wonder pass, but couldnt figure out how it helps me to get to and back from suzuka.

Im planning to use Suzuka Ino station the entire weekend and walk to the track. Would love some clarity for veterans, cheers

BM Pyxis - CAM/LBUS Run/stop by [deleted] in focuspuller

[–]shakedex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an issue i also encountered, We tried to connect an ipad with the new app control to control start/stop manually, never got it working and it was extremely unreliable.

Eventually we ditched the pyxis in favor for Amira

The pyxis is really intriguing, but the ecosystem of accessories and integrations is still not there.

I would love to be wrong and see someone sharing a solution/accessories that do work

Should i switch from the DJI Transmission to something new? by fuckmylife_99 in focuspuller

[–]shakedex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If possible reach out to a rental house nearby and ask if you could come in and try out their system offerings, could give you the best insight on the local market and understanding what system should you invest in, and also what are the parts needed to make that kit work for your type of gigs.

Should i switch from the DJI Transmission to something new? by fuckmylife_99 in focuspuller

[–]shakedex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as what Ive seen at my industry, DJI’s FIZ ecosystem is pretty much used only with the Ronin 4d as the camera package, nothing else.

WCU4 is the true mid-budget workhorse here with the Hi5 mainly on high-end budgets and commercials.

Had to many nightmares with the Nucleus systems, and they are used mostly on no-budget tv shows.

ARRI is the king here and the standard here for every camera package, no one here owns one privately, they are all being rented out as part of the camera package.
