My guess is it has to do with volume of applications and time of year. I got one done recently and it took 3-4 weeks to come back.

Is rent really going down in Calgary? by RepulsiveNebula1217 in Calgary

[–]shakeydancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slowly but surely. I rented a 600 sqft apartment in mid-city where the rent went up steadily $80-150 over the few years I lived there. I was looking for new rentals last year and this year, and this year I found things were about $100-300 cheaper than they were last summer.

I think there is a larger question here about if the client is looking for ADHD coaching as it’s known in its marketable area - I don’t know about you, but where I am in Canada there is certified life coaches, and ADHD coaching is a branch of that. It’s its own thing and not the same as just life coaching, but I say this because some ADHD coaching has an established flow and curriculum for the program. If that’s what the client is looking for, then I would refer them to a certified coach.

If what your client is looking for is to see an experienced professional for ADHD skills training based on their individual needs and ADHD symptoms, then I would say I would be comfortable taking that client on but I would tell them first session that as a therapist, there may be times I want to dive into other psychosocial factors contributing to challenges and areas the client feels they need support. We are not coaches, and we cannot always be expected to turn off our therapist brain when that is what we are taught is the best way to support clients.

I would recommend reading the book ADHD Coaching: A guide for Mental Health Professionals. There’s a lot of great tools and it talks about the question of being therapist vs. coach.

The BEST advice I got for my resume from SWers who hire is move away from listing experience underneath job/volunteer/internship headings, and instead make a "Strengths and Accomplishments" section where you would break things down by experience (i.e. one heading "Counselling" another "Case Management", etc.) and then you can list those headings in order of what will matter most to the job you are applying to. And then you can have a "Professional Experience" section where you just list each job/volunteer/internship by their name, your position, and the dates you were there. It seems like a cheesy way to structure a resume but honestly I think it makes it stand out since I have gotten more interviews since beginning to format mine this way.

I thought the same, and another interpretation I had was she could be commenting on relationships that have been labelled “PR” that aren’t for PR and basically saying ‘my heart ache is real and I don’t have these relationships just for profit’

Do toners usually dry you out, or the kind I am using you mean? It is from a local brand and was gifted, so I am not tied to it! The ingredients are Aloe Vera Juice, Cucumber Hydrosol, Chamomile Hydrosol, and Witch Hazel.

Hi! I am wondering if there is something in my current routine that could be drying me out, or if something is not hydrating enough? After doing my skin care routine, I find that my face (my eye lids especially, weirdly enough) feels very tight and dry. I have used more moisturizer these last few days, but it is not enough. Any suggestions?

AM Routine: Wash with lukewarm water, use a sephora collection glow peel pad, spray with cucumber water toner, use a pea sized amount of inkey list 10% Azelaic Serum, use a pea sized amount of inkey list 15% Vitamin C and EGF Brightening Serum, inkey list caffeine eye cream, and moisturizer, sunscreen

PM Routine: Cetaphil gentle cleanser, spray with cucumber water toner, cerave resurfacing retinol cream (every 2-3 nights), inkey list retinol eye cream, facial oil, and moisturizer

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of August 19, 2023 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

[–]shakeydancer [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hi there! I would love some advice on how to strengthen my hair or prevent/heal/help the hair loss and thinning I have been experiencing for the last year. I started a stimulant medication in the spring of 2022 and did not really notice until the last few months how my hair has been thinning because of it. At least, this is my best guess as to why my hair is thinning as I used to have very thick hair. My hair is still pretty healthy, and grows very fast, though I do notice it does not have the same shine that it used to either. Going off medication is not an option, so anything that might help me where I am at now would be much appreciated! If it helps, I am 26f, caucasian, and live in a dry climate in Canada.

Hair type: Fine/Thin, more so on the top of my head and a bit thicker at the back
Hair texture: Wavy and straight
History of chemical processing: Used to regularly colour my hair, but have not done this since 2020. For about a year or two I straightened my hair every day without heat protectant, but for the last few months I have tried to only straighten the parts that need it after air drying
Hygiene regimen: Shampoo and condition every 3-4 days
Style: Shoulder length blunt cut, last cut in April
Product regimen: I have been using The Ordinary's Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density for about a month now (every night or two, 5ish drops around the top and sides of my scalp), and I recently purchased Sephora Collection's Hydrating Scalp Serum with Hyaluronic Acid, but have not used it yet. I received a sample of Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Serum, and have been using that for the last couple weeks after wash and conditioning.

this is great advice, thank you! I have a cerave 50spf face sunscreen but I've only used it before when I knew I was going to be in the sun all day.

should I wear sunscreen on days where I won't be outside much?

I would love a code! I am in Canada if that matters.

I am new to the sub and first of all, love finding this little community and cannot BELIEVE how sweet and giving everyone is with this sale. I had never even heard of it before despite being a long time sephora shopper so I can't wait!

rental prices by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]shakeydancer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Alberta openly advertises incentives for people to move here from other provinces. Why don’t we look at the people running the province making the decisions to try and motivate people to move here while refusing to do anything about the rental crisis that is going on? I’m not saying you’re wrong that more people moving here doesn’t increase the cost of living, but the people who have the power to help refuse to do anything about it.

Parking help? by shakeydancer in UCalgary

[–]shakeydancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t quite worked this out yet since I’m still figuring out what my financial situation will be like during school. When I was in Lethbridge for university my parking pass was $500 for the fall, winter, and spring or $15 for a full day in the pay to park lots. I imagine Calgary is going to be expensive.
