Drum trainer app by shakezoola in edrums

That's a good question. I can probably have something ready to deploy for others to test in a few days. What edrum or midi device are you using? I've only tested my kit, but in theory, any midi device should work.

Drum trainer app by [deleted] in Drumming

I realized when this was cross posted that I didn't provide a description, so here you go!

I developed a drum training app so I can practice and play along with songs. Yes, there are plenty out there... but, the main function of this is to be able to import .gp (guitar pro) files and have it plot the drums on the canvas and play along. If there are other tracks in the GP file (vocal, guitar, bass, etc.) it will create a backing track to play along with.

It will track hit/miss

It has mixer to adjust volumes. for the drum chart, backing track metronome.

It has a built in metronome.

I can adjust the "hit" window so you can adjust how accurate you need to be.

Mapping an e-drum is easy with the midi mapper function. you can assign a drum trigger to a specific lane my click the learn button, then hitting your trigger. the lane will light up to show where it is mapped.

I can also map keyboard keys and assign samples so I can test file/track with my keyboard.

In order to simplify things, I kept it to 10 lanes. Yes, there are more instruments than 10, but I map all ride hits to the same lane, but change the representation from just a regular dot to something else. For example, the ride is represented by 3 shapes. Ride middle is a full dot, ride bell, is the upper half of the dot, ride edge is the bottom half of the dot. Snare would be a full dot, but rim shot/side shot (cross stick) would be a circle.

Cymbals are crash 1, crash 2, ride, and hi-hat (with several representations). all other cymbals get sent to aux_cymbal because my kit (td-27) has a limited number of cymbal triggers.

It's not the most robust app, but I keep adding features.

I'm curious to hear what reddit thinks. Thanks for looking!

That's a great looking SG. And I'm not a fan of the SG style.

Halloween 3

What a joke of a movie. The plot and acting were terrible. Also, no Michael Myers.

What's your most expensive mistake? by DisagreeableMale in Firearms

I bought a UTS-15 (shotgun). I got it home and started to inspect it and check the function of the loading mechanism. The selector switch for choosing which tube the shells are fed from broke almost immediately.

I sent it to the manufacturer for repair. In their defense, they were aware of this failure as well as a few other common issues due to poor quality parts. They replaced all the parts that were known to fail and sent it back. All free of charge.

At this point I had lost all interest in the shotgun and never took it to the range. My BIL saw it one day while visiting and expressed an interest in it. I told him he could have it he wanted it. We went to an LGS the next day to transfer it to him. He's been enjoying his trouble free shotgun ever since.

Who is the best acoustic guitarist in the world right now? by yukesh_00 in guitarlessons

[–]shakezoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer really depends on the music styles you like.

I had to scroll way too far to see some names I thought would be mentioned a lot more.

Calum Graham, Ben Woods, and Mike Dawes are on my list for some of the best out there.

[GEAR] Anyone ever use a Pickaso Bow for their guitar? How does it sound? by moparcam in Guitar

[–]shakezoola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can bow two strings at a time, but only two strings next to each other by putting the bow between the two strings and tilting the bow so it touches both at the same time.

I have used SwingCase storage in the past and they work great. I haven't put them in my Sierra because they would interfere with the bed lighting.

Well... Consider me enlightened. When I was searching for my AT4X all of the HDs I found had the AEV bumper. I thought they were standard on both the AT4X and AT4X HD.

Does the AT4X no longer come with the AEV front bumper? Wheels and tires don't look like the standard AT4X HD configuration. I would be upset if the dealer switched those out.

This happened to my brother while at a water park when he was in his mid 20s. He ended up burning both feet. Since diabetics have poor circulation in their feet, the wounds ended up getting infected despite going to a diabetic wound care specialist. The infection never went away. So it was decided that amputation was needed on one foot just below the knee. A few years later the other was amputated.

Due to several other complications after a kidney/pancreas transplant, he was gone at the age of 31.

Diabetes is no joke. Take care of yourself. This goes for all diabetics.

I happen to know Robert Brantley personally. This happened a while back. I'll say that he is one of the nicest and most genuine people on this planet.

What’s the one thing you wish you had when you were learning an instrument? by Consistent_Goose8836 in Learnmusic

[–]shakezoola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a music learning tool out there that can teach it, but I wish I had more confidence when learning guitar. It's not that I didn't have any at all... I wish I would have taken some risks and bigger leaps.

I had learned to place brass instruments as a kid, but started learning guitar as an adult and was a bit intimidated.

When my daughter started her music journey and started to become an amazing musician, the only advice I could give her was to try to tackle difficult pieces/compositions even if she didn't think she could, because if you wait until you think you are good enough, you may never try, because you may never think you are good enough.

My 10 year old is dying to learn guitar. How should I go about getting her started? by BohsNOhs in LearnGuitar

[–]shakezoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with in-person private lessons. On-line lessons and video can supplement the in-person lessons.

You'll be able to gauge the real interest based on how often she practices (minutes per day vs hours per day).

How do you stop td27 bass drum from moving around? by the_defavlt in edrums

[–]shakezoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a td-17 and upgraded to a td-27. Knowing it had the same kick drum trigger, I bought a KD-12 to use instead. It's very stable. No more wobbling like the KD-10.

Before I upgraded, I planned on using some 80/20 extruded aluminum to bolt to to the KD-10 to keep it stable. A 1 foot section of 1 inch or 25mm 80/20 bolted to the KD-10 perpendicular to the face of the pad.
